Music Shit / Berlin Brats 45??
« on: February 03, 2011, 06:43:41 AM »
I just noticed in the liner notes of the "Believe It Or Rot" CD there is mention of a Berlin Brats 45 being released while they were a band.

I was always under the impression that the song on "Saturday Night Pogo" comp was the only thing available.  Searches of Popsike/CollectorsFrenzy bring up no listing of one being sold at auction in the last few years.

Does this thing really exist?

Yes, New Bomb Turks cancelled.

Mario is the brother who is in the Dragons.  The Dragons also played and were excellent!

Didn't see the Humpers on Saturday night but heard they were great.

Luckily the psychobilly show was held at a completely different venue and there was little to no crossover.

For a dumb rock n roll fan like me who has not gone in for the new wave of indie rock this was a blast.  All the bands I saw that were great 10 years ago were still great.

I went.  Las Vegas still sucks.

Zeros were great.  No Robert Lopez but they had Escovedo brother Mario on Guitar and it was a very fun and rockin' set.

Rip Offs were great, there is already footage on youtube.

I personally really dug the Hangmen and Pat Todd and the Rank Outsiders, the best two sets of the weekend for me.  Gentleman Jesse, Dragons, Muck and the Mires and Thee Fine Lines were also cool.

Does anyone have a copy of the "X" Vinyl 12" by The Dragons on Imposible Records, SPAIN??

The record came out in 1992/1993 and has eluded me for quite some time.  This is the same Dragons that released "Cheers To Me" on Junk Records in the late 90's and it was their first release.

Music Shit / Re: LEE HARVEY OSWALD BAND Blastronaut LP??

Seriously, I have no doubt that they could unload 1000 copies of a nice vinyl release.  This record is loved on a level near Apocalypse Dudes and has pretty broad appeal.

I wonder what the possibility might be for another label to license a vinyl version.

By the way, here is a Zowie Fenderblast interview I found recently:

Does anyone have the Lizzies demo from a few years back featuring Savic/Zowie??

Anybody got any info on this?

Supposedly there is a new record on Telstar called "Pop of the Tops".

Been looking around and can't find it anywhere.

The Obsoletes album is called "Is This Progress?" and was released on 1-4-5 Records in 2004 or 2005 I believe.  1-4-5 was some weird label run by someone with Ben Weasel connection.  As far as I know they only released the Obsoletes and the 3rd Riverdales album.  CD only on the Obsoletes as far as I know.

Anyone know if there was vinyl on that Obsoletes?

Mystery Girls are strong on every release I have heard.  I have a soft spot for the first, Self Titled record, but everything I have heard by that band is awesome.

I am sure the Wisconsin residents on this board can give you much more info than I can on the bands from the state.

Never saw Yesterday's Kids or Obsoletes live.

Obsoletes record is definitely a step in the "Mature" direction I suppose.  They were probably on their way to a Reigning Sound kind of feel by the next record.

Still, I think the "Is This Progress" full length is the best Costello/Westerberg/Graham Parker kinda record since the first Figgs record, at least.  That song "Other Side Of America" is one of the very best songs ever written in my opinion.

The record is stacked with incredible songs and did not get nearly the recognition it deserved.  Most of the people who knew Yesterdays Kids don't even seem to know it existed.

Have you heard the Obsoletes album?

This was the post Yesterday's Kids band and they put out one of the strongest records of the last decade.  It is perfect fall time power pop with unbelievable songs.

Been listening to Yesterdays Kids a bit lately but I only have the LP.
