Music Shit / Re: Parquet Courts

parquet courts has great taste in music and is the only reason why i recently read the words "pc worship" in spin or rolling stone or one of those big antiquated rnr rags.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Buying a house
« on: November 05, 2013, 07:06:27 PM »
currently doing this crazy adult house buying thing, too. like folks said, check the roof! and check the lower areas for any moisture. also, familiarize yourself with what the surrounding houses sold for and (hopefully) how the properties have appreciated over time. make sure you're not overpaying. zillow.com is a monster resource. my wife and i have a few more houses to look at this weekend, but we're pretty much ready to put in an offer on one we like. i'll post any random usefulness as it pops up.

oh yeah. i should probably throw ghostface/adrian younge and yeezy on my list, too. don't know why i wasn't even thinking of rap. both of those have some incredible (and wildly different) arrangements. each one kind of shocked me. that rp boo is tight, too.

the knife - shaking the habitual
the haxan cloak - excavation
the dreebs - humiliation (single-sided 12" but i'm counting it)
nate young - blinding confusion
pc worship - beat punk
the love triangle - clever clever

and the new joint d/ lp is pretty stellar from initial listens.

people seem to hate that company record. i love it. i also think "mouthwatering claustrophobic changes" is one of the best things wallers has done, and i'm definitely in the minority there.

so i just put one listen under my belt, and a lot of the devil record sounds like polvo chilling on the dark side of the moon. i'm sure benny dubs would hate that description. it's the most PRO ROCK N ROLL sounding album he's done. everything is huge. the 10-minute desert blues kool keith cover is a whole new level of ridiculous... like pretty unbelievable. the mathy elements are out of control. before listening, i was curious as to what the use for another different ben/sophie band was, but now i know. it's a whole 'nother beast, friendos.
