Hello! Usually I post about NZ bands that are on the
Melted Ice Cream label, but as soon as I caught wind of new releases by Girls Pissing On Girls Pissing I took to the internet as soon as I had the chance. It's 2015, and the world must know that the trying-est band on this planet are MY FRIENDS. I would be a bad friend if I didn't somehow persuade you and all your friends to buy the shit out of my friends at once. That's just how this music industry works. And since nobody's paying me to say that, it either means they really are that great or I'm not getting paid enough.
GIRLS PISSING ON GIRLS PISSING RECENT RELEASES
Like all New Zealand success stories, this band is relatively unknown. Yet the waxy blah that has now been secreted from sheer lack of compromise finally certifies my opinion: this deserves the nerdiest of perusals. From Sharpie Crows (of Flying Nun, real obscure label y'know) came Enya fan Casey Latimer, who at said band's point of dissolution did ensemble his way into a more din-friendly sound: Steve Huf's staggering bass, Alex Brown's twisted clarinet and Aki Bukake's spirit-shriek all sit atop those hypnotic cycles that make Catherine Cumming one of the darndest drummers there is.
These are the nicest guys to ever scare you. The greatest team that ever played band-sports with their fingers. The best group ever hyperbole'd. As every rock-ad goes: Read the myth, purchase the music, hear the band! Buy! Buy! Buy!
Split w/ Looks Like Miaou 12" [Tendresse]
GPOGP doubled up with a Belgian band who by all meaningful accounts actually sound pretty similar to them. That's what splits usually do, I suppose, but we're talking about a particularly unconventional sound, as far as goth-twang goes. What's also nifty is that there's a reversible sleeve to make the package feel all that more tangible.

"Single sided 7" vinyl with re-mixed and mastered version of Nine of Swords from 2011 album Eeling. B-side has been made un-playable." Made possible thanks to a particularly warm Termbrother!

GIRLS PISSING ON GIRLS PISSING NEWSThey have an album coming out soonish. I've heard the rough cut, and my ears are thanking me! They need a distro'er for the US, small run, sub-100 copies definitely... get at me on here and I'll put you in touch. Do it for the sleaziest sax solo there is. (And, in a rare moment of comprehensibility, I'll admit that it's the best local album I've heard in years and years. Fucking get in there before Captured Tracks does.)
If you missed it, and you probably didn't, I wrote this
NZ 'scene report' on Termbo that included the 'Girls.

Enjoy that dirge!
