If you're buds with either the Kitchen's Floor or Terry peeps I can mule one copy over back with 'em when they come here to tour in July/August. Spare you the shipping cost, me the inter-tasman slurs.

Copped Civil Union from Goner.....can't wait to hear! Although Goner said something about it being a Czech label that put it out...did someone do a euro version too? Hope you are well buddy!

Huh weird... we pressed through Pirates Press which is a broke for a Czech Republic plant, so that's probably where they got the idea.

CIVIL UNION - SEASICK, LOVEDRUNK

Hooey, v-day! The label's first 12" has been a year and a half in the making; it was one recorded after the band came back to Auckland dishevelled from a US tour that nearly killed them multiple times. (Plenty of Termbo freeks probably know that already.) Now, after several delays and mishaps, we're ready to say this is the fucking one to get if you like slack-strung existential agony. What a band! Now help us recover our losses... you maggots!

WORMSTAR - TURNING RED

Wimpy indie rock, oh what a spice! Get the tape indeed, see what it sounds like, see how you like it. Auckland regular/long-timer Alex Angrignon has surplus drones, and not the Obama kind!

INVISIBLE THREADS - OXIDE

Heyoo -- our first release by a recently-appeared mono-punk band here in Auckland. Featuring Brent from the similarly flabbergasting Biscuits. If deadpan synth barrages ain't your thing, they will be soon, etc etc, cliche cliche. Ba-boom! It's on tape.

I'm just waiting for this to get to the point where everyone ignores TVeye completely.

this is the first i have noticed of him, i cant imagine he will be difficult to ignore.  keyboard warriors are boring as fuck.

Anyone is boring as fuck if they're passionate about something you don't give a fuck about.

i have been with my wife for over 15 yrs, i am well aware of that truth.  i love the shit out of her, but sometimes she is definitely passionate about shit i dont care about hahaha

Christchurch's CHEAP THRILLS music zine: 142 pages of top-quality reflections on modern weirdo NZ music culture.

In my experience of sifting through tree matter, this is the best example of how to get it right. No wasted paper here, folks: everything you need to know about where NZ underground/punk/etc is at right now. (And a little bit of the old stuff.)

≈ key features:

-Intimate thoughts on PETER GUTTERIDGE's inner workings
-OPPOSITE SEX talk about their new album 'Hamlet'
-KRAUS in Europe
-My very own GIRLS PISSING ON GIRLS PISSING writeup
-The ANTIPODEAN GOTHIC: Jasmine Gallagher connects the dots that make up NZ's current wave of miserable darkness
-On SALAD BOYS' joe sampson and his billion other bands
-And 19 more cleverly-crafted articles, interviews, and artwork that finally give due credit to the stuff you won't hear NZ On Air or VNZMA or Universal Music bragging about.

Whether you're in an NZ band or an american band trying to sound like an NZ band, any and all people curious about where new zealand underground music is at should buy this, and fast, cos these hotcakes are selling like babies!

Copies are $20 each (nz) / $30 (international). Hit me up at michaelm2391@gmail.com or on here.

Music Shit / What music do you listen to when you get jaded with punk?
« on: November 09, 2015, 04:41:04 PM »
Greetings, fellow white middle-class authenticity-seekers!

Like most Boys With Something To Prove In Ways Other Than With Their Disposable Income, thoughts like the above bum me in relation to the fallacies, contradictions and dogma within the 'punk' category, and whatever that word even means anymore. For that reason, I've been digging into other stuff lately. So far I've dug weirdo euro-synth, dumb disco, goofy rap and stuff the body responds to better than the mind.

One very hilariously commercial example comes in the way of Candy Girl by New Edition:

Self (and else) deprecation aside, I'm sure plenty of you 'get' being jaded by the hypocrisies and contradictions within a genre that should really be taken a lot less cartoonishly than it usually is. So how about it, any other hits n' smashes that tick boxes that the usual punk stereotype simply can't? I'm looking for recommendations.
