Truly godlike stuff! I have 2 CD's :

Motor-City Detroit Doo-Wops Vol.1 (Regency Records 1995)
Motor-City Detroit Doo-Wops Vol.2 (Regency Records 1995)

For a bootleg (the only available material since Fortune Records won't license this heavenly music), it has some interesting liner notes.

Another essential Fortune Records boot is :

Village of Love - Nathaniel Mayer (Gold Dust Records 1996)

FUCK is probably their greatest record but maybe you should first check out FAVORITE MOOD SWINGS: GREATEST HITS, an extended-length 25-cut CD on SST

Holy Shit! That CPC GANGBANGS 7-inch on Solid Sex Lovie Doll smokes!!! Also, the DAN MELCHIOR 7-inch is absolutely essential - one of the best tunes he ever recorded! I'm prejudiced as far as THIS DAMN TOWN goes since I'm a big fan of this sadly defunct band. The other releases (Bassholes, Lamps, Johnny Vomit, Candy Apple Killings) sound great too. GOOD SHIT!

Supercharger were nothin less than amazing. People who saw em first time around in the old world said that they were nothin then compared to now.

In 1993, Supercharger were great at the Pit's in Bloody Belgium but totally paled in comparison to The Mummies who put on the ultimate budget rock 'n roll show and went totally berserk on stage - The Mummies did another European tour a couple of months later but they were very very mediocre and boring at that time. Still, the Supercharger/Mummies double bill is engraved in my memory as legendary.

Acoustic country blues/early Delta blues ... Robert Johnson, Son House, etc... Can anyone help explain to me the appeal in it?  Or how to better approach it?

it's like jazz, the older you get, the more you love it

i kid you not

Dulcinea is right : Magic Sam is godlike! UK Label Westside issued his complete Cobra, Chief and Crash recordings from 1957-1966 on one handy CD in 2001. Another essential 2CD collection is Capricorn’s The Cobra Records Story which features Magic Sam, as well as raw blues by Otis Rush , Buddy Guy, Ike Turner , Shakey Horton, Sunnyland Slim,… There’s so much good stuff around : Rosco Gordon, Long John Hunter (get the CD on Norton ‘cuz it is really essential!), Junior Parker…. Also : BB KING : the vintage years, a 4CD box set on Ace that’ll blow your mind, really! Somebody mentioned the Bottles, Knives & Steel CD. This is part of the Columbia/Legacy series Roots N’ Blues. Over 25 CD’s with great anthologies by Blind Willie McTell, Blind Willie Johnson, Brownie Mcghee, Blind Boy Fuller, Bukka White… again too many to mention. On a final note, you should check out Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues 7 DVD box set. It features rare archival performance footage of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley…
