I find their cover of wall of voodoo's "mexican radio" very odd, and I'm sure others agree.  Anyone know the story behind this?

I had heard rumors of a crippled dwarf singing for a hardcore band here in NY about 15 years ago, but I'm going to have to do some research to substantiate it.  But friends of mine claim to have seen them and the crippled dwarf commanded the crowd to kill each other during breakdowns.  Like I said, I'm going to have to verify this one...

not punk, but I remember seeing these 2 on the Jerry Springer show:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lori_and_Reba_Schappell

Reba is a country singer who won the LA music award for Best New Country Artists in 1997, she has performed across the USA and in Germany and Japan.

As someone else already mentioned Bobby Steele is the only guy that immediately comes to mind.

I had a feeling someone might have things to say about 80's Hardcore...

You gotta admit, it's difficult to look at that website and not find something to dislike.

One more thing, I work in construction and pretty much every construction worker I've met swears by this place having the best sandwiches:  http://www.yelp.com/biz/defontes-sandwich-shop-brooklyn

oh yeah and as far as that indian strip goes I like Brick Lane Curry.  It might be the most touristy/gimmicky or whatever but I like it.  Eat the spiciest curry and they have you sign a waiver and get a free beer for finishing it!

There are a ton of Vietnamese spots down on the Bowery but I've yet to check any of them out yet. I plan to start sampling them soon. The Voice picked Pho Tu Do as best-of '08, so maybe that's where I'll start.

there isn't a single Bowery spot we've gone in with a vietnamese staff, or a staff that even spoke vietnamese.

Noted. I'm a rube to this stuff so any expert advice is welcome. I just want a solid Vietnamese sandwich sometime soon.

I've only had bahn mi from Hanco's and Nicky's.  Actually theres a sizeable vietnamese population in Jersey City if you're ever venturing out there I get a pretty good bahn mi by my house.  Aside from that I usually just eat at Nha Trang, it may not be the best but when I was working on Canal Street it was my standby.

For an intimate dinner, we like Zenkichi which is located oddly enough on an isolated stretch of North 6th.

I never felt so cheated as the one time i ate here.  I spent about $150 and left so hungry that I went home and made some nachos.  The food was great, just highly lacking on the quantity front.

weird... it's usually about $80 for the two of us.

that place is fucking good.
It's tapas, Your not supposed to stuff yourself

I realize this, but for that amount of money I shouldn't have been that hungry immediately after eating!  We had some drinks, too which contributed to the bill.

its restaurant week the next two weeks.  I usually make it a point to try out some places that would normally be way out of my budget.  Which reminds me to try and make some reservations today.

Check it out here:

I grew up on Hebrew National but actually prefer Boar's Head hot dogs, they have some snap when you bite into them.

Anyhow I noticed a couple places offering bulgogi hot dogs here in NYC.  I would have tried one but they only offer it as part of a combo.  The other part being either a coffee or a frozen yogurt, who the fuck wants that with their hot dog?

This was a fun read. Had no idea Sam McPheeters could write.

I'm actually always entertained by his writing, been a fan ever since Dear Jesus fanzine.
