Music Shit / Pop Will Eat Itself
« on: February 14, 2011, 02:00:39 PM »
I went to a local record fair and found POP WILL EAT ITSELF's LP Now for a Feast.  I bought on an impulse without knowing anything about the band only that it was on Rough Trade from the 80s and $3. It's pretty great sloppy Pleased to Meet me era Replacement's shit. I guess a few years later they turned into a Prodogy/Fatboy Slim kind of hip hop thing?  Are there any other records of theirs that are in the good old sloppy rock n roll/pop vein?

Hey! Shark Toys are doing a little west coast tour thing this February with our young friends from LA, Plasma Centre.  Here's a pretty crude youtube video of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgtnsYFSuFY.

If anyone can help us get a show in any of these towns it would be awesome.  I know it's last minute but it should rule.  The only catch is that Plasma Centre are under 21 so they have to be either all ages shows or at least 18+.  Listed are the tentative dates.

Feb 17 - SF/ Oakland
Feb 18 - Portland (just Shark Toys)
Feb 19 - Olympia / Seattle
Feb 20 - Sacremento @ the Hub

Will update with confirmations.  Hope to hear from some of you!

Also: on the tour we'll have copies of our debut 7" on Felter Skelter and hopefully some vinyl copies of the new Nerves tribute album featuring us, Grass Widow, White Fence, Le Face, Hunx, So Cow, etc., etc., and maybe a cassette of our upcoming LP.

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone in the Los Angeles area have a copy of the John Cale autobiography What's Welsh for Zen that I could by or borrow? Would need to pick it up in the next 24 hours for a project I'm working on. Would repay in beer or loaning a book from my collection. Or money. thanks

Non-Music Shit / download codes
« on: December 03, 2009, 01:41:04 AM »
i remember seeing a thread or two here of people saying who was legit for download codes.  i'm starting a label and would love to include downloads with my records.  i'm too tired to go through all the pages since i know it was months ago and don't even know which topic it would be under.  who are good people to go with or can someone link me to the original thread

About Shark Toys:
Shark Toys are a Southern California based band that began in the bedroom of Danny (vocals, guitar) and Rina (keys, guitar) in the summer of 2008. The band initially recorded only on single-track cassette tape and as a two piece but have since expanded to a four-piece. In January '09 enlisted the help of Greg Ashley who played drums and produced their debut EP (this record!). Since their inception they have toured the West Coast once and have shared the stage with Mika Miko, Crocodiles, Gris Gris, Calvin Johnson, Ty Segall, Fresh & Onlys, the Spits, Silver Apples, the Homosexuals, and others, and they played at the 2009 Part Time Punks Festival with the Raincoats, Section 25, Abe Vigoda, and others.  Shark Toys are playing in San Francisco for the Noise Pop festival later this month and plan to tour the US and hopefully Europe this coming summer and fall.
