New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Rabies "What You Know About Me" CS
« on: November 25, 2017, 09:49:39 AM »
Posted this in the demo zone back in the spring when we put it up, but now that its entered the physical realm (that was quite a while ago actually), figured maybe one or two people on here might be interested.
Full length of what I have described to myself as “XPRESSWAY attempts top 40”.

MRR's interpretation...
“This tape opens with a threatening, aggressive track, “Rabid,” and then bounces back and forth between dark, brooding singer- songwriter territory and straight up indie pop. Maybe it’s just been a long weekend of drinking too much, but some of these tracks are so pretty and so damn sad that I almost can’t handle it. There’s a couple on here that could be the soundtrack for a tragic, nostalgic breakup montage in an ‘80s movie. One track, “Pointless,” sounds like a cousin of one PAT BENETAR’s dramatic slow jams. The singer and guitarist behind this project, Rachel Fry, has an incredibly beautiful voice and skill. I’m no A&R expert, but it wouldn’t surprise me if these folks end up famous. (HB)”
Father Byron's 2-cents in October’s issue of the Wire...
“Similar line-up to the Surveillance record Man, which was reviewed a while back. This Nova Scotia quartet seems to be a bit more popoid, however, despite their name. Where Surveillance used rough guitar tones to blast forward, Rabies uses keys, effects and guitars in a much gauzy and driftier way. All female vocals as well. There’s a certain New Zealandy pucker to the proceedings in places, which balance out the cops from Parallel Lines.”
Maybe a Richie review on the way? Hope he finally pans us.
