Non-Music Shit / Re: what are you reading?
« on: September 26, 2014, 12:25:25 PM »
Reminds me of how long it took me to read books when I was a kid because I just kept getting boners and wackin off. The trials of youth.

Just finished A Feast of Snakes and Concrete Island (Ballard). Good stuff and my first experience with Crews. Looking forward to the next one. Up next: Yugio Mishima ... anyone recommend a starting point?

Lots of Mobius/Jodorowsky talk on here but haven't seen anyone mention 'Madwoman of the Sacred Heart' yet. A killer book, very funny, with all that spiritual ascension business typical of Jodo. Definitely a good one for those foolish enough to find the Incal daunting in it's sci-fi magnitude. Plus, how can you go wrong with a cover like this...

I liked the Locas stories of Love and Rockets when I read them a few years ago, but I also like Yazujiro Ozu movies and other boring shit like that. I guess it's the minimal use of melodrama, although I don't know how to explain to it cuz it's not even worth explaining... bought a big copy of Luba last year and I don't think I got half way through it.

glad to finally jump on this board, excited to shoot the shit. how's it going termbros and sisters?

Low Life - Dogging. pretty much what richie said in his review, been listening to this at least a few times a day since I got the record last week. a disturbing meditation on masculinity? not sure I want to take it that far but it's definitely an overarching theme, you know, masturbating to rhianna and all that. makes me think of a bukowski quote i read in some mag about human beings sitting in rooms with the shades pulled shut jerking off or reading magazines, and that's the truth. thanks chuck. other songs like DNA are pretty explicitly scathing. wish I could make out more of the words in some of the tracks, if only to further appreciate how fucked up it all is.

9 Shocks Terror - Zen and the Art of Beating Your Ass. I didn't grow up on hardcore by any means so scratching the surface of all the old shit has been a great way to spend the last few years of my life. anything with ERBA written in the personnel list seems to hit me the hardest though, especially h100's. fuck everyone. stick to yr guns. they don't say that directly but it's what I've taken away from the music. still gotta check out upstab!!!

alright I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead here.
