Where'd you pick it up, man?

the band was selling it as of a week or so ago. you can shoot them an e-mail: info@qek-junior.com
other than that, danse macabre and kernkrach have it for sale. i don't know of any us distros as of yet.

Is this any good?  Label?  Thier 7" on Kernkrach was awesome.
I'd also like to know, please!

yeah, it is pretty damn good. catchy and hard hitting. ten tracks at around 40 minutes. the only disappointment to me was that all four tracks from the kernkrach 7" are repeated on here. they may be re-recorded, but they are so close to their previous versions that i can't tell. i'd also heard three other tracks (now gone) from their myspace, so that left me with only three new songs to my ears. i grabbed two non-album compilation tracks (one being a remix) and added them to a cd-r version of the album i made, so that made it a bit more satisfying. "polizisten" is a brilliant track and i have no idea why they left it off the album. i suggest you seek it out. overall, there's a really cold, minimalistic, and goth overtone to the album and if you liked the 7" i'm sure you'd be down with this. great for night driving.

it's on the danse macabre label. i e-mailed the band about an lp version, but they said it's cd only for now. someone needs to get on that!

that first eat skull song is really good. most of their new stuff i've heard was more acoustic/dreamy and i wasn't that into it. i'm glad they can still create a killer cacophony. my anticipation for the new album has risen.

Is #7 the one where they extrapolate off Mekons' "Where Were You?" cuz that shit fried my mind on DMT once upon a time. I saw the Earth being born. But that's a story for a different time.

What's the story on that Gris Gris live LP?

yep, that's the one. it's fucking great. the best super roots, in my opinion. it's hard to listen to in the car without involuntarily going over 80mph. total mind bender.

re: gris gris live lp - it just came out on birdman. it sounds fantastic to my ears. here's what the label has to say:
Quote
"The final record from Oakland, CA's psychedelic quartet, The Gris Gris, was recorded live at the warehouse where Greg Ashley resides. The twilight had come and the fat lady sang. The final bell tolled for the brightest sons of the Oaklandish psychedelic revolution. Here is the final piece to that hazy, mysterious, yet strangely familiar sound this band created. With songs from both records played with ferocity and sonic mayhem, the story of the Gris Gris is here. Bright. Swirling. Gnarly. Electric."
