As for the Kings I think any owner is a step above the Maloofs. They started with some promise but quickly became a new baseline for worst owners ever.

As it stands now I can't see any scenario where Cleveland doesn't make the finals for the east. I accept that Lebron is probably the best player in the game but I really can't deal with hearing people gush over how he "willed this team to the finals" after having the worst playoffs ( to this point at least) of his career. I am really hoping for the Grizz to make it from the west just because I love the way they play and enjoy watching Randolf and Gasoline throw up those shots that look like they have no chance of going in but end up nothing but net.

The team won't admit it but I am pretty sure Wall is done for the year. Two years ago I had 5 fractures in my left wrist, I am no athlete but no way he can play well. Not worth it to me. As a Wizards fan the shame long term is that this injury will keep Randy Whitman as our coach. Easily one of the worst head coaches in sports right now. It's almosy comical to watch his end of period and game plays. They are pretty much give the ball to ____ and get out of his way.

Everyone understandably hates Lebron but I don't see the Bulls winning this series. They still suffer from too many stretches where they can't score at all.

As a Bullets/Wizards fan it's tough to laugh at any team. I used to love watching Terry Cummimgs play when I was a kid.

I am rooting for the Bulls in this series mostly because if Wall was healthy I am pretty comfortable the Wiz can beat the Bulls, mainly because Nene owns Noah and they both know it. I hate Lebron but it is fun to watch the best in the game do their thing. I still think it would be impressive if the Cavs win, without Love and basically without Irving right now would make it a big testament to Lebrons skill.

In the West I want anyone but the Clippers. I think Blake Griffin is rivaled only by Wade for cheapest player in the league.

Too lazy to read 31 pages but when I used to work at a book store my favorite author to stock was Petru Popescu. It's just fun to say.

I also used to date a girl named Timothy Muller. Always thought that was a strange call

They can but I am not sure they will. The wiz are a solid team but it's hard to understate what Wall brings to that team. They have a bunch of great players but all of them are streaky. Wall is the constant. No matter what happens I hope Otto Porters performance caries into next year. Great to see him playing so well.

That's two off nights in a row for Golden State.  If Memphis can keep making them play their game they can win. Here in DC it's mostly just waiting for no Wall to catch up with them while marveling at the beauty of Paul Pierce hitting game winners and having the best quotes ever. "I called game"

Watching the Bulls/Cavs and realized there is no NBA thread on here.

Just to be clear, Sims comes off as a complete asshole in the letters section. But then, that's half the fun. Of course, it's been years since I've read any of this stuff. Some is great, some is pretty bunk. (maybe even.....Randian?)

Been really enjoying the new Cometbus called 'A Bestiary of Booksellers' (#56 I think); it's all about the used book trade in NYC.

I don't remember Sim being a dick but I was a pretty square 15 year old when I read them and probably didn't get the joke.

Someone should compile a book of just the letters' page from Cerebus.
Shit was almost as epic as the story proper.

Shit I forgot about those. From what I remember an almost Star Trek level of fanaticism coupled with an author willing to write long detailed responses to questions of minutiae and patriarchy. They were great and you are right, almost as fun as the comic itself.

For better or worse, the people in my life fall into two camps: Those who love "The Gift" and those who have never heard of Velvet Underground*. My head might explode if I had to deal with a third group: Those who do not appreciate "The Gift" b/w "We Will Fall".

*Guessing...actual poll slated for Q4 2016.

Is it bad that when I read about the kid that was smuggled into Spain in a suitcase my first thought was, "Could have been worse, could have ended up like poor old Waldo"?

This does remind me, I am going to visit my mom in a couple weeks. She should still have some random original print single issues of Cerebus in a shoe box. If I remember correctly I have some Jaka's story and a few other random ones (I want to say including the one with Mick Jagger). If anyone is interested message me. I can ship them to you, they have been there for 20+ years so clearly I have no need for them.

"The Gift" is awesome.  The music itself rips - Lou is on fire back there over in the corner.

After 20+ years of hearing it "The Gift" still blows me away.
