Ones that spring immediately to mind:
Richard Papiercuts - If, simply gorgeous production, wonderful lyrics and songs, the strongest for me: from your most salient bangers "Peanut Butter is Back" and "The Sorrow of Faith" to the equally memorable "Now I've Found You" and the totally elegant "Twelve Days," the more riotous "Tired of Playing the Drums" and "They Tried to Change Me," and fuck is this quickly turning into a list. Suffice to say RP & co. effortlessly demonstrate the deepest musical instincts over a smorgasbord of sounds, proving that aficionados make love the best.
Ballroom 12", most savage sounds I've heard all year, and you can actually make out the damning lyrics, approaching something nearly anthemic. Heavy, huge-sounding psych monster perfect for cutting a swath through your sunless urban commute. Ballroom's fury is stately and clinically precise and messy as all fuck at once. Nothing spells NYC state of mind like it. Also the best and most apt cover art of the year maybe. Who knows what'll happen if this sleeping giant ever wakes up?
Home Blitz - Foremost & Fair, As great as anything he's ever done and cleaner, tighter, a bit more adventurous. DiMaggio's songbook grows strong.
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly, when was the last time an album this wild, singular and eloquently angry snagged 11 Grammy nods including Album of the Year? If he doesn't win alluvum, the Grammys are for real racist and Kanye will have earned his mic-snatching moment at least once.
Earl Sweatshirt - I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside, understated as usual, his raps are sublime and the beats and production are industrial on "Grief" and could be Echo & the Bunnymen or Cocteau Twins on "Mantra." Easy.
Vince Staples- Senorita and Ghost, especially the latter, which is the most solid late-year rap song I've heard. It sounds great through a subwoofer and on the dancefloor. Guy sounds like he's at his peak and so young.
A$ap Rocky - At.Long.Last.A$ap, just super smooth and soulful production and rhymes.
Joey Bada$$ - B4.Da.$$, ^same. Haven't heard it in months, but enjoyed the hell out of it.
Black Panties 7", this just rips my face off and I almost overlooked it, credit to user: slowed for making it known to me.
Space Blue cassette on SDZ, great to hear one of my favorite musicians still making music and killing a new format.
New Missy Elliott single is very cool.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some and there's some I definitely missed.
