To say that TNV had even minor success seems like an overstatement. They always struck me as holding their cards pretty close to the chest. Think they're as great as PR and Horseshit at their...best. The triumvirate of CLOWNING ON BITCHES, people.

Edit: meant to say shitgazin', what a slip huh

Don't drink the tap water- it is "very corrosive". Flint rockets to the top of the list.

http://www.mlive.com/news/flint/index.ssf/2015/09/new_testing_shows_flint_water.html

If this shit happened on either coast it'd be front page (inter)national news, instead it isn't even a blip on the regional radar.

It really is appalling that this isn't bigger news. Even West Virginia's water contamination debacle made national news.  And how long has the lead leeching been a problem? Generations? No wonder Flint's in the state it's been.

Fairly recently, there was a fairly prominent media/municipal snafu about water not being regulated properly in a certain stretch of New York projects. Fucking outrageous and I'm sure it happens all the time. Pretty sure the city was ball-hung to take it seriously and it was fixed. I'm not looking it up.

Slightly difficult (for an unmotivated fucking stoner) to get sativa from most weed guys, but I'm fine with indica

Regional thing, you're Canadian right? Anywhere down south it's difficult to get anything but sativas on the street.

Some of you who think the current stuff is "too strong" would become habituated if you smoked every day. Probably best you feel that way, who needs more vices? I haven't had any weed that knocked me out or seemed "too strong" to do anything in years. I'll bet if I quit and smoked up a month or two later, it would be a much different story.

Yep.

Recent lost lost comp is really good.

Man lost sounds were great. That used to be my favorite record until somebody advised me to give rats brains and microchips another spin.

Shooting for a visit to NYC sometime in October. Hope the stars align.

This Heat is a band I'd generally wanted to get around to, but never took the time. Listened to the first album for the first time last night, and while some of it is as fuckaroundclatter as I expected, goddamn are the good moments great and forward-looking. Will have to keep digging.

I've always found "Deceit" to be more accessible compared to the first album. If you're having trouble with the fuckaroundclatter I'd suggest you try it. Songs like "Sleep", "A New Kind of Water" and "SPQR" get just stuck in your head like great pop songs, but to listen to the whole thing is still very much a mindfuck. Amazing work. A couple of years ago I've listened to it everyday for months and still managed to learn NOTHING about experimental music.

Yes, I would also recommend starting with Deceit. It's a shitkicker masterstroke.

I'm listening to Front 242.

Finally getting around to liking the latest Home Blitz. All of a sudden I put it on earlier today on the train to Milan and it clicked after months of not really getting it. Wonderful record. I guess I've stopped looking for the familiar and started seeing the uniqueness of it.

Excellent record.

It's good. A bit more twee than their typical fare, but they write good tunes effortlessly and while far from brimming with surprises, it's a stately and elegant "swan song" beholden to nothing or no one.

I recommend it to anyone each chance I get. The only caveat is to avoid becoming a day stoner too often if it impairs your productivity, which unless you're Seth Rogen, it probably does.

Yeah, indica 'dro's the way to go. Actually, pot snobbery pays off if you like the way it makes you think and want to pursue a healthy relation to the stuff, much like people talk having different kinds of quality of booze-corollary hangovers. On further reflection, the culture ain't so bad, the flowers look pretty, it's related to botany, and I've developed a fond, warm association to the smell.

It's the best drug; virtually no withdrawal and may cause magical thinking.

I doff my cap to anyone who can abstain from weed. It is far more impressive a feat than getting stoned.

And yeah, fuck 'weed' culture. There ain't no 'ibuprofen' culture, find some other thing to define yourself by. https://www.facebook.com/events/451967341623594/

All drug cultures are stupid.

Paranoia's a wild card with weed, but the ratio of pleasant effects outweigh it for me.

I'm a strictly nocturnal smoker. A couple hits and I'm good. Can't face the whole day stoned, though commend those who can.
