Non-Music Shit / Re: Movies I've been watching

Sad to hear bad feedback on "Everybody Wants Some" because I liked the concept. Looks like I will avoid it. Got a couple VHS bad boys that I pulled out recently, never made it to DVD. First one is "I Was a Teenage Werewolf", starring a young Michael Landon. I have a friend who literally bugs me every week trying to hustle this off of me, because it never made it to DVD. Straight Ebay find. I guess it's tied up in litigation. Odd, because there is a big enough cult following around this film that a $200+ bust was manufactured in honor of it, yet still no digital release. Same with "Teenage Frankenstien", another 50's AIP exploitation flick. Classic drive in movie fare...sort of like "Rebel Without A Cause" meets a horror movie.

The other gem I own on VHS is "Massacre at Central High". Really good political/horror movie about social status in a California high school. I've seen DVD bootlegs of this, but I still don't think it has a proper US DVD release. Great 80's horror flick. For years the third movie I had that was exclusive to VHS was "Horror of Party Beach", which is an amazing slice of schlock. Thankfully, this was recently remastered and released on DVD.

Hang on to those VHS players!

That Guy- It's a reggae band by that one guy. You know, that guy you see all the time. The dude in the polo shirts? That dude. It's his band.

That Dude- Rap side project by that one dude. You know...the dude who always comes out on Saturdays? He wears the Mets hat. That one guy.

NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THAT GUY AND THAT DUDE TOGETHER. THAT GUY AND THAT DUDE HAVE BEEF. BECAUSE OF THAT ONE CHICK. YOU KNOW? THAT CHICK WITH THE KID? YEAH, THAT CHICK.

The divorce rate in the U.S. is fifty percent. Also, she cheats. I would focus on those two things before I start getting too bummed.

I find getting enough sleep (8-10 hours for me) makes a huge diffence, too. I would do all nighters or four hour sleep schedules all the time in my twenties and I always felt like shit. Now that I am older, I make sure I get a good night's sleep. Being sober helps with that, too. You just feel so much better the next day without that cranky, sleepy feeling.

We should turn Termbo into a men's health forum.

Exercise isn't always the cure-all, and it depends on how you do it. If you just jog at a moderate pace for 30-60 minutes, like I did for years, it won't do a damn thing. Plus it will fuck up your knees. High intensity interval stuff is what really helps you lose weight.

Beer is a killer: a friend of mine just started drinking again, and he instantly put on a good 30-40 pounds. Looks really bloated. Plus you are spending most of the day sedentary if you are a daily drinker.

I know a guy with a Gibson ES-335 who plays a local dive bar with his blues band. He walks out into the audience with it; sloppy drunk women just bash into it. That shit wouldn't leave me house if I owned one.

Just drinking iced tea helps; water has been the best supplement. I know people with soda addictions similar to that guy. I have a friend with a giant beer gut who drinks 2 liters a day, probably more. Also smokes pot all day. He can't figure out why he is gaining weight.

Those Big Gulps look horrible. I live near a Dunkin' Donuts and I am amazed as the sizes on some of the coffee they serve. Shit looks like it could feed ten people and it's just one suburban mom sucking away at it.

Dropping soda from my diet was infinitely better for my health than becoming vegetarian. I drank a lot of soda -- three or more cans a day, everyday. I cut that out about twelve years ago. I drink less than one can a month -- occasionally split a can with someone. I was an elementary school teacher very briefly and the rise of type 2 diabetes is off the charts. It was a fairly uncommon condition before the 1980s. The soda industry is taking the tobacco industry route with deny till you die (agnotology or Robert Proctor's Cancer Wars). Humans can't process the amount of sugar in sodas and juice drinks, especially in mass quantities.

Soda is the worst. I had no idea how many added calories I was taking in just via liquid. People don't think about it. I didn't until recently. Trying to switch to just water but it is hard...I get a headache if I don't get soda once a day. Totally addicted. Did you lose weight when you cut this out? I would assume yes.

I once drunkenly left my guitar at the bar I was playing at, and when I woke up hungover the next day, I thought the opening band jacked it. I made some insane phone calls and some pretty intense accusations. Later in the afternoon, a friend from the bar told me to come down and pick up my guitar, because I had left it there. I felt like quite the douche. Same bar later banned me from entering because I plastered their men's room stall with 50+ stickers of my band, covering up all the other band's stickers. Bottom line: Drinking is a great idea!

Local library just go the "Decline" boxed set and I have been watching that. "The Metal Years" is just classic goofball shit. The funny thing is, I hated the third one when it came out; now I find it kind of touching. It really is a good look at street kids coming from bad families and turning to booze and homelessness. I was a kid when it came out; it's weird to think that those people (if they lived) are all my age now.

The first one is, of course, a classic. DVD has some bonus interviews and Fear/Germs live footage. Sorry if this has been covered before, but it was great to see all of these re-mastered. What am I going to do if I don't make it? Well, uh...but I WILL make it!

Read like two books about it one week and decided to try going vegan shortly after getting sober. Lasted a couple days, tops. I would like to cut down on my meat, like Agg just mentioned. Factory farming is pretty disgusting and even these "humane" free range places just slaughter the animals in the end, anyways.

Black Flag is great and all, but as I age, I find myself being drawn closer to the real folk blues:

W-18 looks horrible! I feel bad for kids coming up with access to this crap. There are going to have to re-brand it with some chicks name, though.

90's film producer #1: "I've got this kid on the line, Jay Mohr...talentless. Vapid. Not even that good looking. Absolutely the most boring actor I have seen in years!"

90's film producer #2: "I like what I am hearing so far, but how Dean Cain is this kid? Could I literally fall asleep if I watch him act?"

90's film producer #1: "Total doucebag. You won't even notice he is on screen."

90's film producer #2: "Sounds almost too good to be true. Level with me, Karl: are we talking Brendan Frasier status? Is he that good?"

90's film producer #1: "THAT good, Mickey. Literally THAT mundane!"

90's film producer #2: "That's it, sign him. SIGN HIM! Jesus, Karl, how do you find these people? Genuis!"
