Music Shit / Music to make people not want to shop

Hello folks,

Driving down the vegas strip today, beautiful weather, listening to Viet Cong's self-titled, a thought popped in my head, "Why not pull punk and indie back from irrelevance by making music that would make people not want to shop?"

I'm afraid this could end up being dangerously close to shitty avant-garde music. Also, as far as I know, most metal has been successful in dodging appropriation by capitaled interests (except that autistic dude in The Big Short, listening to Mastodon while trying to figure out how to get richer). Metal gets boring really fast, though.

What would you guys play over the speakers at Walmart or Nordstrom's, that would not only be 'good', but would also drive people out the doors?

Looking forward to your thoughts,

Sincerely,
Nef

All of this and worse in honor of this fuckin' fog demon that presents himself as if he was the Fanta-shaded wrestler America needs (Steve Austin please save us):

If Steve Austin suddenly elbow-dropped Trump from the RNC stage scaffolding, and followed it up with a Stone Cold Stunner before getting plugged by the Secret Service, most of the audience would erupt in cheers and the threat of a Trump presidency would be ended forever.

Stone Cold refused to do racist and sexist storylines during his time in WWE, supports gay marriage, and spoke out against xians opposed to same-sex marriage.

Damn, that's pretty fuckin' cool.

I figured some of you guys would have thoughts on this epic shit show called the RNC. I've seen more organized Halloween parties thrown by drunk teenagers. Anyways, so far we've seen Trump's wife basically plagiarize her speech and a group of delegates hate-walk out of the hall. Throughout, people probably less important than my stoner neighbor babbled incoherently about some golden Aryan American past they wish to return to, you know, back when lynching wasn't so frowned upon. All of this and worse in honor of this fuckin' fog demon that presents himself as if he was the Fanta-shaded wrestler America needs (Steve Austin please save us):

Younger chick I know had to explain what a Pok?mon was, because I never paid attention the first time. Still don't really get it. Or care.

You sir get 10 cool points right there

It's always annoying when people are incredulous when you don't know about some banal aspect of popular trash culture. I'm always amazed at the number of my peers (50+ middle agers) who DO know about current chart pop for example. For me that's mainly mass entertainment for children - at best an entry (level) point into culture - popular or otherwise.

You don't know who THIS soap star is? What's wrong with you? You're so out of touch. You'll be one of those weirdos WITHOUT a Facebook account right?

You can't be cool if you don't get "it". He clearly confessed to not getting " it". Don't celebrate that. I think you're confusing the hype with the real deal chap.

Non-Music Shit / Goner writeup in American Songwriter

This is a pretty cool treatment of Goner and a bit of its history. It's not anything any followers of Eric and the gang won't know but its a nice read nonetheless.

No patience for this shit. Kill them all.

Drive a fuckin truck through 'em if you need to.
The problem is there are regular street walkers mixed in. I take doggie for a mile or two every night, often twice a day. The number and demographics of sidewalk walkers has changed in the past week and from my observations they don't know how to walk down a sidewalk.

1- These mofos walk directly TOWARDS dogs they don't know while staring at their screens. Screenface.

2- When in groups they often don't move to one side of the sidewalk. Screenface.

3- As mentioned before, they FOLLOW you. I loudly called out the weirdo behind me last night. He eventually went another direction.

4- They ride bikes with headphones in while screenfacing. Screenface.

5- They are driving erratically through neighborhoods. Yes, many of them are in cars.

6- The young ones are pottymouths. Regular young streetwalkers in my neighborhood generally understand to tamp down the toilet talk around little kids and adults- and I live on the ever lovin' Southside of Chiraq!

These fucking screenfaces DON'T KNOW HOW SIDEWALKS WORK!! Pokemon won't teach them cuz the fad is going to DIE by the end of the summer. Probably by the end of July. It won't survive winter that is for sure.

Non-Music Shit / Audio Interview with King Khan
« on: July 14, 2016, 01:52:30 PM »
The lead singer of Fucked Up has an awesome podcast called Turned Out A Punk. His latest interview, episode 87, is with King Khan. It's an awesome conversation with a fuckin' legend. Hope you guys check it out, maybe while you're washing the dishes or walking the dog.

(The episode 87 called Footnote is a review of the interview, where Chris O'toole and Damian dive into all the records and bands name-dropped during the conversation.)

If anyone knows about Pokemon they can probably figure out that I'm a Pokemon nerd from my profile pic. I grew up with this shit. It's the only anime I can stand. Anyway, besides the unfiltered nostalgia this app pukes out I think there is something really novel about it. There's an idea floating around that social media can be seen as a game: trying to rack up Twitter followers, Instagram likes, etc. Pokemon Go just basically moved the game mechanics of social media into the real world. Now instead of sitting at home alone chatting with people on Facebook I can go meet friends at the park to catch some Pokemon and maybe meet some new kids.

There's some new weird paradigm this app is bubbling up. I can't quite place my finger on it but it's kinda like when Snapchat became a thing. Like, what the fuck is the point of this and why is everyone so obsessed about it? Oh, that's right, it's helping you get laid.

I figured they'd try to have a rock and roll festival, not a tween girl dance party.
