I got really into the problem of ethics when I discovered philosophy in high school. It led me to read a lot of Peter Singer's work. He wrote the original animal rights book, Animal Liberation. I was totally convinced by his arguments but had a hard time getting rid of meat. My family barbecued all the time and most dishes were meat based. I finally got a full time job which allowed me to buy my own food, and I decided to just go vegetarian. The best thing is that I can go days without showering and no one minds because the stink is so pleasant.

You'll be right in the middle of a bunch of cool shit. My favorite bars right now are Atomic Liquor, the Bunkhouse (we just opened up for Together Pangea there last night) and Oddfellows. Beauty Bar has basically been relinquished to squares and jocks. Near Bunkhouse is 11th Street Records, and there's a book store across the street from there. There's a vegetarian restaurant on Carson and 7th called Vegenation which has some really good stuff. Their sushi appetizer and Daniel Negreanu meatball sub entree are amazing. Inside the Container Park is another veggie restaurant called Simply Pure. They got something different than Vegenation. Cheffinis hot dog restaurant in the Container Park has vegetarian hot dogs.
