Music Shit / Quality 24/7 internet streaming radio stations ...
« on: February 22, 2017, 06:04:07 AM »
Anyone have any good streaming radio stations to rec? I'm not necessarily talking about single shows at certain times, but stations that are decent any time you tune in. I need to expand my list ...

Here are a few I listen to regularly:

Dynamite Garage
(some garage station from Norway that's basically great, found it a couple years ago)

WFMU
(good most of the time)
https://wfmu.org

HPR1:Traditional Classic Country
(most always good and not any "modern" crap, I haven't listened to the other stations on their site)
http://www.hpr.org

WWOZ
(generally good Jazz and R&B from NO)

Swamp n' Stomp Radio
(some funky Cajun shit)

Non-Music Shit / Re: Eating handfuls of kale...

The problem with eating excessive amounts of kale is that it can give you some mean farts, certain people more than others I would guess, but most I know are afflicted in some way. I enjoy me some kale regardless.

Who do you guys think is prettier, Curt Kirkwood or Andie McDowell?

I never knew the Meat Puppets Gold Mine lyrics. I did see them play tons way back before Cris went to prison. They were insanely good live and never once was I disappointed after a show. In all the shows I never felt any message of hatred except from one dude in the pit at a Mpls show who was out of his mind and head chopping. Gold Mine lyrics are unfortunate, I wonder how they feel about them now.

Siouxie and the Banshees, Hong Kong Garden. My wife was a huge Siouxie fan in HS and when we consolidated record collections we re-listened to lots of it. This one stood out I remember we were both surprised and pretty turned off by it:

Harmful elements in the air
Symbols clashing everywhere
Reaps the fields of rice and reeds
While the population feeds
Junk floats on polluted water
An old custom to sell your daughter
Would you like number twenty three?
Leave your yens on the counter please
Hong Kong Garden

Tourists swarm to see your face
Confucius has a puzzling grace
Disoriented you enter in
Unleashing scent of wild jasmine

Slanted eyes meet a new sunrise
A race of bodies small in size
Chicken Chow Mein and Chop Suey
Hong Kong Garden takeaway

Crackle is a great free movie channel. Also check out the Grant Hart doc on Amazon Prime. There was also a great doc on WFMU on Amazon Prime but it might be gone by now. This is my first post one here btw.
