the important part being that you know more about nazis than anyone else here

no just felt like getting into the particulars of this subject. that was my mistake.

I literally spend a third of every waking hour researching, taking notes and trying to interpret context and meaning from varieties of sources of academic and historical materials

who is the one trying to impress?

a Nazi as your avatar

ok, now you're the one baiting.

baiting people for saying it?s bullshit to listen to Nazi music.

again, never said that. but i guess its easy to misunderstand a stranger on the internet. i was trying to engage vedicardi about classical music, he had expressed an interest.

im sorry that your living with a nazi has so affected you. keep barking at shadows.

I am being overly pedantic given the medium. I agree with you there, that was my first mistake. Apologies to all.

I guess some national socialist putz could characterize it as the nail in the coffin for the "true" spirit of the movement and a turn towards Hitler's megolomania. But I am not making that argument, just thinking out loud. Maybe this is really Douglas P's point in the name?

Yes, that is his point in the name.

If you think it's offensive for me to tie the fact that Rohm was gay to Douglas P who is both gay and espouses his interest and support of Rohm's particular wing of the nazis, I'd point out, like has already been stated that you have a wack ass fuckin' avatar and one of your first posts here was a whine/bait over people talking shit about listening to nazi metal.

Fuck off.

You're linking Rohm and the SA to some "left" wing side of National Socialism is wrong. Actually giving these creeps the credit that there was actually coherent politics that could be defined in a right/left paradigm is shaky. Thats all I was saying. This was the post of a drunk, open for conversation history buff. Nothing else.

I don't really have an opinion regarding my avatar. Maybe Ramblin Pete is right. It wouldn't be the first time. But I do find the idea of hate reading "DIJ" interviews and pulling history lessons from them sad and loserish.

It's coming off more like you're some closet fan.

No, you're understanding of said purges as an act against the very peripheral "third position" and national Bolshevism is just flat out wrong. Maybe this is "Douglas P" understanding of the events but he would be wrong too. I can't imagine that being the case and dont really want you to bother looking up the source of that info.

To say the NotLK was some sort of gay nazi purge because one homosexual was murdered is silly enough to not have to be refuted. Maybe open a history book instead of hate reading death in June interviews?

Night of the Long Knives was Hitler flat out killing all rivals and arms of the movement he had lost control over. I guess some national socialist putz could characterize it as the nail in the coffin for the "true" spirit of the movement and a turn towards Hitler's megolomania. But I am not making that argument, just thinking out loud. Maybe this is really Douglas P's point in the name?

Clearly we've had a misunderstanding. I turned this convo into something it wasn't. Let's just move on.

I'm not especially interested in anything regarding "DIJ". I don't listen to them. I guess I took things off topic. My bad.

I was just trying to better inform your understanding and maybe help you with your own opinion. You know, converse.

Regarding the killing of gay nazis. It sounds to me like you're the one splitting hairs here.

Sorry. I wasn't trying to be pedantic. Your characterization was just ill founded and I thought I'd correct you. I guess it is too much to ask for a nuanced understanding of historical events on a music forum, of all places.

the event of Hitler executing their gay, leftist white supremacist nazi heroes.

Umm not exactly...

The so-called "Night of the Long Knives" was the purging of the SA leadership and a general taming of that organization's influence. Heading the SA was Ernst Rohm, yes, a homosexual.

The "leftists" in the movement had already been purged and this "Night" actually consolidated Hitler's power away from, amongst others, his right flank. But even this characterization gets shaky under scrutiny.

The truth is, the "Night of the Long Knives" was an act by Hitler to consolidate his own power. To apply too much ideological reasoning to it (or really, Fascism in general), is giving Hitler's "politics" too much credit.

Yes. I have cassettes from Eastern Europe that contain music (primarily "industrial") that has never been released on any other format and is not available to listen to anywhere online. I prefer vinyl.

exactly this

Anyone do this? I'm tempted but can't bring myself to pull the trigger on some desired tapes because dropping $$ ($$$?) on something that gets worn down with every listen + is very susceptible to the elements just feels... unwise.

Need advice. Lots of mention on metal thread about not listening to nazis. Is proto fascist Wagner acceptable? Are there enough good piano sonatas out there to not listen to pederast Schubert?
Need answer asap!
