i know the most basic stuff—inner city, cybotron, model 500, phuture, frankie knuckles etc—where should I go from there?

the more sinister or minimal the better.  already know about italo disco, also already like a lot of late 80s/early 90s dance music that would now be called "jock jams" (snap, black box etc) and the some of that french daft punk-affliated stuff (modjo, stardust) so I'd like to know what is along those lines, but maybe came right before it?

not really interested in anything that's british or glitchy

anyone who is likely to have the knowledge and will and energy to put out a vinyl record for love probably wouldn't be into trap music enough to put all that effort in. Particularly as it's not the "home format" of that kind of music

I think there is a market.  like I said, lil ugly mane (a fucking white dude from the noise scene who rips off three 6/memphis rap) is up to 4 pressings of "mista thug isolation" on 2xLP.  if it was only dipshit white noise bros from baltimore buying his shit, i doubt people would be paying up the ass for it.

looks like rick ross "teflon don" just got released on LP for the first time ever.  hopefully some more lex luger stuff will get out there soon

makes me feel like someone sound give the "Trap-A-Holics" series the KBD treatment.

i see what you mean about the hipster caveat, but literally EVERY hipster I know was listening to Juicy J in 2013.  you can't even get "bandz a make her dance" as a 12" single—and 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne are on that one!  but hey, there's like 8 different pressings of Lil Ugly Mane "mista thug isolation" to choose from (and I'm guessing I can find a ton of vaporwave shit opn vinyl too).

how hard would it be to get some sketchy plant in eastern europe or russia to press bootlegs of this stuff?  i know people who read this board have bootlegged numerous punk records.  i suppose juicy and lex luggar are probably more

why the fuck is there no Juicy J shit on vinyl?  i spent most of 2013-16 doing blow and listening to music on YouTube.  pretty much stopped buying new records for a few years.  Now that i don't party anymore and can actually sorta afford records, i'm bummed that a vinyl version of "Blue Dream & Lean"—or any of that Trap-A-Holics mix tape shit—don't exist!  and unless discogs totally has it wrong, you can't even seem to get any of the major label albums or guest features he did on numerous songs from that time period on vinyl (yet you can get pretty much all the Three 6 stuff on vinyl).  do you gotta get 1 billion views on a rap video now to get a record pressed, or what?

Music Shit / Re: Punk is NOT dead!

always taken their lyrics as tongue in cheek—the "buttfuckin' son of a bitch..." stuff in "i'm not a loser" seemed like its supposed to be paraphrasing the cokehead jocks that call him a loser—but i have no clue.  does bill stevenson or milo ever directly any of the meaning of their lyrics?

IMO Descendents sucked as soon as Frank Navetta was out of the picture.  the guitar sound is what makes "Milo Goes To College" hold up all these years later.  any less harsh and this would have been weiner central.  these days I mostly skip straight to "catalina"—listen to that song 5 or 6 times in a row—then go straight to the closing trilogy of "hope," bikeage" and "jean is dead."  the production and Milo's singing on the later records actually make me want to vom

can someone seed this on Pirate Bay or Soulseek so I don't have to wait 5 years to see it?

Not sure where/if it's available yet, my partner's organizing a screening of it so we got some kind of advance copy. Maybe ask the director if he'd share it (or organize a screening in your city?), https://www.lesfilmsfurax.com/contact/

Everybody who donated in advance to their IndieGoGo has been able to see it in advance. I can confirm it's fucking amazing.

GG Allin: All In The Family (Showtime)

I expected some entertainment value from this, but not much else. My expectations; however; were pretty greatly exceeded. I thought this was an incredibly well done documentary and it really helps provide some insight into GG and his life and work. I don't think anyone who would want to watch this would learn anything particularly new, but when some of the information is presented by his mother, for example, instead of out of his own mouth, it provides a very different context, and a humanizing experience...  Not gonna lie, the movie made me tear up a little.

watched that the other night.  was really good.  his mom had some great insights into his life.  i think it made me gain a modicum of respect for merle as well.
