Any of you old schoolers still use newsgroups?  It ain't what it used to be for music, but still worth browsing.  Officer Brad, I know you were looking to download cable shows, and should look into it.  All you need are programs called Xnews and Winrar and you can grab just about any show or new movie out there.  It's anonymous downloading too.

Speaking of capitalism, what's your take on Joseph Schumpeter?

I honestly think facism is a requirement of nation building and setting up a capitalist society.  We had our Whiskey Rebellion and set the farmers straight, Japan slaughtered the samurai, and Chile's one of South America's success stories now thanks to Pinochet, which everybody hates to admit.  When this administration decided to drop Saddam and install a laissez faire economy and democracy simultaneously, you'd have thought somebody would have reminded them what happened to Russia when they tried the exact same thing.  You need institutions before you can have legitimacy, and to install them it usually takes a strongarm to do so.

Where did Mark Teixeira's power go?  He's on pace to hit 17 HRs!  Biggest midseason disappointment?

I can't think of an industrialized country that's not guilty of at least 7 of those tendencies.  We're just not as secular.

What's your take on Billy Corgan moving in with Courtney Love?

I loved the story today about Bob Uecker's stalker.

"Uecker, 71, has said Ladd has been stalking him for six or seven years, sending unsolicited gifts such as flowers and teddy bears and showing up at Brewers games and in hotels across the country. "

I'm amazed at this ladies persistence and also by the fact that Mr. Basbeball is 71.

Man, 7000 is a small town?  I grew up in a town of 200.  My best friend was a cow and my first girlfriend was a sheep.

Rusty Kuntz had the best baseball name ever.  Roland Americo Biancalana is up there too.

If everyone on this board was put up for adoption, who would have the best chance of going home with Angelina Jolie and Officer Brad Pitt?

And what's your take on Mark Cuban?  I have to admit with all the attention he brings to himself it was fun watching him squirm last night.

That fight Saturday showed why just about everybody over the last 10 years has been deathly afraid to fight Winky Wright.  I still thought Winky deserved only a draw at best though, too many close rounds to call to unthrone a champ.  As good of a trainer as Stewart is, I don't understand why he didn't have Taylor use his jab more early, and I have a hunch Taylor will be back in the gym learning how to improve his lack of defense.

I wonder how Joe Dumars feels now taking Darko Milicic over Wade and Anthony.   I do think Darko will emerge as a star down in Orlando though; just like Jermaine O'Neal too many gms give up too early on the really young talent.  What's your take on Pat Riley?  Was he the boost the Heat needed or just an egotistical and opportunistic bunghole?

I never saw a band's reputation go downhill as fast as the Mooney Suzuki's.  They are the poster children for hype gone wrong, and I know a lot of people who I get to pick on for buying into them.

Who are Europeans calling lazy?  If we had 30 hour work weeks and didn't have to work so much, we'd know more too.

My personal favorite pet peeve is people who vote for presidents who will cut their taxes.  That's great, but considering state and local gov'ts have to pick up the slack, you're right back at square one again.
