Music Shit / Re: I wish I could see Absolute Body Control again
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:19:22 PM »
Unfortunately I've never seen them, but damn I love their records.  The Absolute Body Control box set on VOD is my favorite VOD release, I think.  And their recent releases including the remixes or reworking of their older tunes are really great as well.

Did anyone end up scanning the insert notes from the cd?  If so, or if anyone is willing to take the time to make a decent scan, I'll send you a mixtape or something if you email me a copy.

I can't answer your questions, nor did I know most of the fun facts you list in your post.

But I also have returned again and again to Killing Joke.  They've released some pretty awesome stuff.  I think my favorite is their 2003 S/T cd only release.  It's a big pissed off, undaunted fuck you to the George Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney led USA of 2003.  The production is powerful and great, Dave Grohl on drums.  I agree with you on G. Walker's guitar playing.

Bummer it's not out yet, but great news if there are still plans for Volume 2....  Volume 1 is a very good record.  Sort of seemed even more under the radar than these types of records.

Thanks for the info!

An upcoming volume 2 is referred to on the insert of Volume 1.  Is there a volume 2?

easily one of my all-time favourite singles.

Me too, and Wars or Hands of Time is easily in my top ten songs, if I had a top ten songs.  Great news.  I'm good for one or two.

The Lee Hazlewood 2xLP is great, and I'm pretty sure it will be around for awhile

I agree, it is a really great record.  Worth picking up for sure.

I also come from a long line of bikers, but I hate the fucking outlaw scene.  They're like skinheads, can't fight on their own, and if you get into it with one you are swarmed.  Maybe in the 60s and 70s it was different, but nowadays they are fuckin tools.  At least up here in the Seattle area.  Plus, if you're in an outlaw club you don't own your own bike, the club owns it.  Fuck that.  And they're too cool to ride anything but Harleys.  I used to love riding up on my little "rice bikes" or my old BSA to one of my older brothers parties all full of tough guys.  Basically they'd try to make fun of me but they ended up just looking stupid.  Like the jocks in high school who used to call us faggots, and we never understood why they thought that would hurt our feelings.  We'd then just insult their intelligence and they didn't seem to care or get it.  Though I must admit, my favorite bike ever was my old 1977 Harley Shovelhead FXS, totally stock, that I found in an old barn and bought off a guy.  Best effin bike ever, but I got smashed by a 1980 Cadillac that failed yield when turning left.  Cracked helmet, busted shoulder, and lots of skin scraped off my right leg, and my bike twisted and mangled and not repairable....still bums me out.

My only bike now is a 1975 CL360 Scrambler.  This is not the exact bike, but looks exactly like mine.  http://www.flickriver.com/photos/11435930@N06/1680602412/

It's a super fun little bike for riding around the city and the island I live on.

Debating on whether or not to see them in Minneapolis this Saturday. Don't know the records at all, but in the event I one day do get into them I'll probably regret not going now.

There were a lot of folks at the Seattle show who'd never heard feedtime.  But everyone I talked to who had not heard them still thought they were great, and then went and bought merch.

feedtime were really great last night in Seattle.  The sound was awesome.

I thought for sure I'd leave after feedtime played but ended up staying for Mudhoney, who were good too.  I hadn't seen them play since I was a teenager, probably over 20 years ago.....I like Steve Turner's guitar playing.

But really, it was feedtime who killed it.  Highly recommended.
