I'll be there in 2 weeks for approx 5 days. I've got a wedding and a couple of other obligations.. but otherwise, I'm free to raid your thrift stores, drink your beer, and eat your food.

What's happening in Madison the weekend of October 17th? Anything?
(I doubt that I can make it to Milwaukee, Green Bay, or anywhere else good)

Non-Music Shit / Annoyances while DJ'ing..

Each time I play records, I attract at least one so cal bro, who has to ask what 'OC PUNK' I have with me.
(by OC PUNK they inevitably mean "SO CAL 80'S HARDCORE')

The conversation last night went like this:

"You selling records?"

"Umm. no. I'm playing these records" (as I take another record from my bag and put it on the turntable.. there's no for sale sign anywhere in the area)

"What requests do you have?"

"Ummmmmmmm none"

"You got any stitches?"

"At home, yes. Here, no".

"You got any (insert the name of 5 different Southern California 80s punk/hardcore bands here) "

"Not with me"

(A little more of this back and forth, and they walk away disgruntled because I'm not functioning as their personal jukebox).

These same 'bros' asked if I could give them a ride to the Parkside when I was leaving. (Sure, I always give rides to 3-4 dudes that I don't know, to a bar in the opposite direction from where I was going)

WTF?  Am I privy to the SoCal bro, or do others get this same shit when they play records? What is your response to the 'human jukebox' situation? Does this happen because I'm a girl, or does it happen to the rest of you too?

A West Virginia man who police said passed gas and fanned it toward a patrolman has been charged with battery on a police officer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jose A. Cruz, 34, of Clarksburg, was pulled over early Tuesday for driving without headlights, police said. According to the criminal complaint, Cruz smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and failed three field sobriety tests before he was handcuffed and taken to a police station for a breathalyzer test.

As Patrolman T.E. Parsons prepared the machine, Cruz scooted his chair toward Parsons, lifted his leg and "passed gas loudly," the complaint said.

Cruz, according to complaint, then fanned the gas toward the officer.

"The gas was very odorous and created contact of an insulting or provoking nature with Patrolman Parsons," the complaint alleged.

He was also charged with driving under the influence, driving without headlights and two counts of obstruction.

Cruz acknowledged passing gas, but said he didn't move his chair toward the officer nor aim gas at the patrolman. He said he had an upset stomach at the time, but police denied his request to go to the bathroom when he first arrived at the station.

"I couldn't hold it no more," he said.

He also denied being drunk and uncooperative as the police complaint alleged. He added he was upset at being prepared for a breathalyzer test while having an asthma attack. The police statement said he later resisted being secured for a trip to a hospital that he requested for asthma treatment.

Cruz said the officers thought the gas incident was funny when it happened and laughed about it with him.

"This is ridiculous," he said. "I could be facing time

Non-Music Shit / And if you think internet access is expensive
« on: September 17, 2008, 05:17:59 PM »
Lacy Underall just moved to Perth.. and just found out how much it costs to have internet there.  It's fucked up.  There are upload/download limits, a $300.00 install

(info I just found from one of their ISPs)
Download Allowance
Peak (10am - 2am)/Off-Peak (2am - 10am)

Important Information

Option 1-3 plans have no set download limit. Speed is reduced to 64kbps/64kbps once the Monthly Allowance is reached. Shaping provides full access to the internet at a reduced speed of your regular Broadband1 service. Alternatively, you can choose to pay $6 per GB for excess downloads and access the internet at full speed. Please note: New members must select their excess option i.e. shaping or $6/GB, during the signup process. Existing members can view and/or change their current excess options online at MyAccount. All members except 256kbps Option 1 members please note Westnet Neighbourhood traffic (MyWestnet sites, Westnet Download Vault and 3FL site) is not charged for or affected by shaping and will continue at full speed.

Please note: Peak and Off-Peak times for members in the Northern Territory correspond with Peak and Off-Peak times for members in South Australia. Peak and Off-Peak times may start and finish earlier for members in the Northern Territory in instances where South Australia switches to Central Daylight Time.

A MAN who collected his urine and bowel movements in thousands of wine bottles at his home found himself buried underneath them in a household accident.

Neighbors heard his cries for help and called the police and fire brigade. A "very brave" fireman carried the man out of the house where he had been maintaining this bizarre habit for two years, Oriental Morning Post reported yesterday.

The stench from his house where the floors were covered in excreta, spread throughout the entire lane in Hongkou District. The man, surnamed Wang, lives on the third floor of an old house which doesn't have a toilet.

His neighbors go to the nearby public toilet to flush their wooden chamber pots everyday. But they said Wang had never appeared to empty his chamber pot in the past two years.

As well as the bottles, Wang's house was full of rubbish which blocked his rescuers for a while.

Neighborhood committee officials said 38-year-old Wang once worked as a security guard but had quit his job in July this year. His father had died and his mother went overseas. He divorced his wife two years ago and started drinking wine constantly.

He bought two bottles of yellow wine everyday, neighbors said, but seldom had dinner. They said Wang had not had a bath for two years.

Members of the neighborhood committee spent two days cleaning his house and giving him a bath. Wang said after that he felt more comfortable.

Wang apparently has no mental illness but he was thin and weak and could only sit on a wheelchair after being taken out of the house.

Doctors said excessive drinking had damaged many organs in his body. The neighborhood committee said it will hire an ayi to take care of him and hopes he can stop drinking.

08-31) 11:34 PDT Modesto, Calif. (AP) --

Police say a man tried to cut off his own arm at a restaurant in Modesto, Calif., because he thought he had injected air into a vein while shooting cocaine and feared he would die unless he took drastic action.

Authorities say 33-year-old Michael Lasiter rushed into the Denny's restaurant late Friday and started stabbing himself in one arm with a butter knife he grabbed from a table.

They say that when that knife didn't work Lasiter took a butcher knife from the kitchen and dug it into his arm.

Police Sgt. Brian Findlen says Lasiter told officers he thought he needed to amputate his arm to keep himself from dying from the cocaine injection.

Lasiter was taken to a hospital for treatment of severe cuts.

The Denny's closed for the night.
