Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: (THE) NOBUNNY (SHOW) 2012

Was just informed that there will be go-go dancers at this show dressed up as bunnies.
This makes me so sad that I can't find the .gif of Justin harassing go go dancers.

I've met the singer of BumKon on multiple occasions, like many here. Isn't Missing Foundation Vern Toulan, father of Old Skull's band?

Looks like you're right, but Vern, Jamie, and J.P. (Old Skull) are all dead.

Gorilla BBQ is the best BBQ in the Bay. But it's in Pacifica

Damn. That place has such an awesome sign. I still haven't eaten there.

I just haven't ever had BBQ in SF that was worth shouting about.  Da' Pit on Divisadero is OK, I guess, but it won't blow you away.  There's just way more and way better options for BBQ in Oakland.

SF Zoo is pretty cool and located a few blocks from Ocean Beach.  You could probably kill a whole afternoon with that plan.  Hitting a Giants game is always great too.

I thought the BBQ place inside of Golden Gate Park (at the golf course) was pretty decent

Mitch, have you tried B-Side BBQ? I thought the pulled pork was pretty good, but I'm sure it was rather pricey.

BBQ and/or any southern style food in the bay area doesn't compare to the south (and it can be ridiculously expensive)

Dan from 10 Things (jesus wants you to know) is having a yard sale tomorrow. Advertising punk records and kitsch for sale. I'm envious. Please go and tell me what I missed

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/gms/3162642081.html

My friends and I are having a big multi-person moving and yard sale this Saturday:

Antiques, vinyl records, clothes, furniture, jewelry, games, electronics, toys, artwork, games, household items, crafts and more. I'm going to have multiple boxes of cheap indie and punk 7"s and CDs for sale... probably old band t-shirts and promo photos too. If you ever come to the garage sales I have off Lake City Way every other year or two with boxes and boxes of records, CDs, promo photos and other music stuff, I'm that guy. And my friends are all collectors and hoarders of kitschy and hip stuff, so there should be some great gems.

Big Yard Sale!
Saturday, July 28th
9am-4pm - NO EARLY BIRDS!
10738 Phinney Ave N, Seattle WA

lots of cheap vinyl and CDs, plus a big bin of '70s-'90s punk mostly in the $3-$9 range- Husker Du, Damned, GBH, Conflict, Confuse, Blasters, Bad Manners, Vice Squad, Radiacs, Fugazi, Cows, Butthole Surfers, Heroin, lotsa comp LPs, etc. Amy's selling a really nice small women's motorcycle jacket too.

I also wonder with so many Americans fixated on the movie massacre how many read the article about the expense of the uninsured victims' hospital stays.  Nothing beats surviving one tragedy to live through another.
I don't understand why crime victims have to pay for any medical expenses.
Is this a state by state thing?  When I was 21 a friend's pitbull attacked me. I went to the local hospital (Indianapolis - Wishard Hospital) and they told me "no charge. you were the victim of a crime"

For many years i assumed that was the norm. It's weird (and fucked) that any victim should have to pay medical bills.

Oh, it looks like SOME of the hospitals are offering free care

I don't blame India or any other country for taking these jobs. They're not 'stealing' it from you.
That company who used to give you work realized that they could make far more profit (and have a bigger more reliable staff) by sending the jobs somewhere else.

that is stealing.  until we can make a living here on 25 cents an hour we cannot compete in a global marketplace.  companies should get penalties for outsourcing jobs, cut into that potential profit.

I completely agree with that. (at this rate America is going to become a third world country)

I've worked my share of phone based customer service type jobs
- Answering Service Operator
- Telemarketer
- Online retail customer service
- Tier 1 Tech Support (Pac Bll Internet, College IT Help desk) etc.

Some of those jobs paid decent.. others were total shit, but all of those jobs have been getting pushed overseas for a long time.

Have you ever talked to an Indian customer service rep or telemarketer? Not as an angry customer, but as an actual person? I talked to them on a regular basis.  Most of the people I talked to thought the jobs were TERRIBLE. (as did I). Getting screamed at by americans (simply because they were Indian)
Having to give fake 'american' names.

6 years ago I worked at a company where I saw my (HORRIBLE) customer service job get shuffled to our rapidly expanding call center.  I found my Indian coworkers to be SUPER nice folks and very intelligent.. but they were given stupid scripts and fake names to use when dealing with customers.

I wouldn't bet on those jobs coming back anytime soon (at least not with a living wage) Those jobs are going to keep being shuffled to the next poorest country on the list (with the fewest regulations).

Oakland is still Oakland.

I don't agree that Oakland is still Oakland. Oakland is the new Tenderloin! The new mission!
The skyrocketing prices in SF seems to be forcing more of the "SF FOR LIFE" folks to this side of the bridge.

Have you been to Jack London Square? We've got wineries! Downtown (I mean "uptown") Oakland? North Oakland?
NEU OAKLAND!  It's much wealthier than the old Oakland.  Every other restaurant/bar that has been opening is 'upscale' and trying to attract a high end clientele.

But seriously, what the hell is happening in SF?
After the most recent events, I did a quick comparison on the crimespotting websites  (Oakland VS SF). Congrats! You guys totally won the mugging contest this month!  Great numbers! Great show! Good job!

Sure we're whooping your asses on burglary, car theft, and murders. but maybe just because more Oakland folks own cars and live in houses (easier to rob than apartments. Maybe I'm wrong)

Peripherique Est - Demos LP

Top want. Will pay way too much for a copy.
Including shipping, that LP was pretty pricey the first time around (I think we ended up spending 35.00 each)
