The girl and I will be moving to this hated city this summer.
Hopefully I can find a barber college and a fuckin' thing to do.
Indianapolis was really fun during the '90s... Tons of house parties (most with bands), all ages shows, and a pretty awesome scene. Super cheap to live there (never paid more than 150.00/month in rent and lived in huge 3-4 bedroom houses). I haven't lived there since '99, but I usually return 1x a year for a visit.
The people are pretty damn nice, and there is some stuff to do;
Fountain Square

An odd mix of cranked out hillbillies (including cranked out hillbilly hookers), vintage stores, art galleries, and a pretty amazing Value Village.
Tufty from the Zero Boys/Toxic Reasons owns a bar here.
Radio Radio

Broadripple Village

This used to be the place where you'd find all the punks hanging out. Not sure where they hang out now.. maybe at home on the internet? Anyway.. it's pretty yuppie these days, but if you need a restaurant job.. this is the spot. I've worked at 4 restaurants, 2 bars, and 1 gas station in this neighborhood. And the Alley Cat dive is in one of the (surprise) alleys.
The Alley Cat Lounge is this weird pick-up/dive in Indianapolis. The floor are sticky, the drinks are cheap and strong, and the place has a weird smell. (packed solid on the weekends, but free pool on Sunday afternoons)

I really miss eating here

The Mexican pizza and spinach salad are fucking great.
Missing Link Records (I think this is still near or in Broadripple?)
This place used to be amazing when it first opened (mid-90s?). I've still found stuff when returning to visit

This is the 'punk bar' and it has lots of shows.
