Music Shit / Re: Crazy KBD rarities showing up at your local record shop
« on: January 29, 2007, 03:07:16 PM »
This isn't a KBD rarity.. but I did have a total RECORD SCORE!

I went into Amoeba (Berkeley)during my lunch hour just to browse and look for the Records LP... I was in one of the isles..hadn't even started to actually look for it yet... but my socks were falling down, so I reached down to pull them up, and I looked over, and there it was!! For a dollar! Record score!

the end.

A couple years back, I bought that LP for $8, then walked out of the store and past a guy selling records on the street a few doors down.  In his pile was the LP I'd just bought, only for 50 cents.  Whoops.

I used to regularly record shop with some folks who scoured the bins so often they could tell me if something was worth 5.00-8.00 or if I should just wait for it to turn up in a dollar bin.

I've got one of those 'tattoo artist friends practice' tattoos.  If any of you (who know me) are wondering which one.. it's the super shitty, light one on my back.  Most people have no idea what it is.. hell, I have no idea what it is.

According to Fecalface.com, jailhouse tattoos are totally cool again.

Anyone got a good jailhouse tattoo? I've got a tattoo of a spider that was started (outline only) on a kitchen counter in Madison, WI .. the person doing it was some dumbass skinhead (and I was a bigger dumbass for letting him tattoo me). The second time I was tatooed, it was in the basement of some party. The guy had a real gun this time (and a bunch of folks were getting tattoos), and he just filled in the same tattoo. I finally got it covered a few years later with a much bigger tattoo.

They didn't mention it here, but I read somewhere else that he has a bunch of other people chewing the gum for him.. so that means he's fucking around with ABC gum. Gross.

Isn't Plastic Bertrand gay?(Seriously...)

He gives me head.....

I didn't think the plastic bertrand version had the same lyrics as the Elton Motello version (ie - it's far more tame)

http://www.david.gibbs.co.uk/plastic/plastic_lyrics.htm

There was also an English version, Jet Boy Jet Girl, by Elton Motello. There's some debate as to which came first - although it seems certain that Plastic/Deprijk did - but the backing track is identical, by virtue of the fact that Elton's band did some work on the Plastic Bertrand album. What I do know for certain is that the lyrics of Jet Boy are far filthier ...

www.gumblondes.com

Jason Kronenwald was raised in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Currently, he lives in Toronto and makes portraits out of chewed bubblegum called Gum Blondes. The first Gum Blonde was completed in 1996 (last image).

Each Gum Blonde is 100% chewed bubblegum on a plywood backing. No paint or dye is used. The colour is inherent to the gum—the mixing of colour takes place inside the mouth during chewing using an endless variety of companies. Kronenwald has a dedicated team of chewers and prefers the texture of Trident. However, he does not chew gum himself unless he must.

That is Red Devil Records in San Rafael, formerly of Petaluma. Barry openned the store up in the 1990s and had first shot at former Frisco punks who moved to Marin & Sonoma County, got straight jobs, had kids, and sold off their record collections. Never found a punk record there that I wanted to pay his prices for though I fished many a great jazz record out of his bins for nothing and a copy of the Equals US LP for $3.

Back when I had a job that paid me well, I used to blow a ton of money at his store. When I was confined to my apartment (with a broken leg), he even hand delivered a few orders. Now that's customer service!

Got lots of good shit from him.. Pack, the Dogs (FR), both Murder Punk CDs..  If I can't find it at Amoeba, I know Barry probably has it.

Funny, I had no idea Barry was putting anything on ebay.

I had originally planned on getting just a crass tattoo.. but the guy doing the tattoo (aka: the dude I was living with at the time) absolutely refused to tatoo a big black splotch on my leg..he thought I'd definitely regret that.

Instead he drew up a pretty awesome sketch of the TV series Addams family house (by pausing the VHS.. isn't sketching from a moving image, fun?) The crass moon is in white with a light grey border. I feel pretty goofy about the crass tattoo.. but I don't regret the Addams family house.. it turned out pretty fucking rad.

I have a crass tattoo. Does that mean I win the stupid band tattoo award?

(Well.. it's actually a tattoo of the Addams family house.. but it has a crass moon..... I was 20 for cryin' out loud)

"shit" is acceptable and "faggot" is not?  Where do you work?

Umm.. I think that's been the case everywhere I've ever worked. You can't really get sued over saying "aw shit"... but you can sure as hell get sued for using the other...
