Every band mentioned in this thread sucks shit.

I think that everything in Canada in general sucks shit.

Tim Horton's?

Music Shit / Smog Veil mp3's on Facebook

I once had a live band perform on my college radio show, WOSR, set up right in the tiny cramped studio, circa '85ish. The band featured a future GBV bassist. I've posted an .mp3 of a portion on the Smog Veil FB fan page, here:

Any guesses?

Killed By DIY, Killed By Hardcore and the Powerpearls cleaned up nicely around the edges, and there's definitely room for a volume of proto-punk.

What the world really needs now, however, are a Killed By US Metal ('79-'83), Killed By NWOBHM (interpreted more strictly than 'Live to Ride') Vols #1 - #6, and Rust Stains Across as many world-wide '80's thrash metal scenes as can support a 35-minute LP.

Rust Stains Across Canada would be a ripper, and I can guarantee the synths would be less than minimal.

I second that emotion.

However, until it happens, I do have Enforcer to keep me happy.

Tooth and Nail
Beach Blvd.
The New Hope
Let Them Eat Jellybeans
They Pelted Us with Rocks and Garbage
Not So Quiet on the Western Front
Flex Your Head
...

New Hope and Pelted Us are great.  Are there any other NE Ohio comps from this time period? (aside from the Bowling Balls and Stiff Akron comp)

The obvious: Cle Confidential 7" and LP.

Not so obvious: CLE 3B flexi, Oops! comp tape, Cleveland Metal (well, just for the Black Death track).

Smog Veil entries: Pie&Ears 1+2.

Tom Dark had a box of these for sale a few years back at $10 a pop.  I hear he's working on a reissue as many of the bands recorded extra tracks for this that never saw the light of day....Don't know why this never got more love as it's totally great IMHO..

They had a certain knack for turning awful 5 minute songs into truly awful 15 minute songs.

I didn't consider this to be one of the gems of the label, but I guess I was wrong:

Peens has one ok track, but if Dangerhouse is a 10, Endangered Species is barely a 1.

You Know what Collector Scum--fuck you.

I lived near Erie, have tons of friends there, and we're just curious.  Sorry our curiosity ended up with something stuck up the ass of the self-appointed king of collectors.

Music Shit / Endangered Species Records

I've started some research on Endangered Species Records, the label based in Erie, PA.  I think they just did 7"s, and here's the info I've tracked down:

PEENS: Air To Breathe / I Just Want To Be Loved By You // Thrill Me / Dogs And People 7" Endangereed Species 803, 1980 PS

PISTOL WHIP: Heart Throb / Untouchables 7" Endangered Species 772, 1977 PS

I believe The Frenchmen also did a record for this label.

Anyone have a complete discography, and an extra to sell?

BTW, I hear the X-Whites are doing a reunion gig in Erie in May, all original lineup.
