Dudes, next time you go to Coney Island, eat pizza at Totonno's on Neptune Ave.  Hoooly shit.  I was back two weeks ago and ate there for the first time.  I've been dreaming about them slices since.  I ate 6 and still wanted more.  We sat down and asked for a menu and the waitress just looked at us and said, "we have pizza".

Arturo, thanks for all that.  I'm gonna see what I can find.  I picked this one up real cheap at Kim's and never paid much attention to it, but it's a fugging good record!

And hells yes, FREE PIZZA!!!

I just pulled out Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments - Bait and Switch.  I got it years ago, don't really know their stuff but this is sounding real nice to me right now.  What else should I look for by these guys?

Mike, big ups on your xtreme termboin' skilzz.  Don't know if you remember this, but the man-child in Steve's picture used to hang out at Dan & Rob's old house in Fair Haven, NJ.  He was there drinking whisky with us at a party you were at years ago.
I don't think he's in to the coldwave.  His jamz were N.W.A.

In the long run, I'm far more attracted to a girl who is independent, smart, funny and devotes very little of her time to any kind of dumb herd, music-tard or otherwise.  I don't give a fuck if she knows who Ed Kuepper is.  Doubleplus points if she hasn't fucked every single guy I know in every band who's ever had a lame 7" circle the block.  Unless she can introduce me, oooooh!

Amen.  I've realized that as much as I'm into myself and all that I enjoy, it'd be a drag to date someone just like me.  I just wanna find a girl who's smart, fun to be around, will go to an occasional show, but most importantly, be open and intererested in things.  That's the key.  It doesn't have to be the kind of music I like.  Just be interested and involved in life.  Otherwise, it's a slow burn.

Gotta add an addendum though, now that I live in SF.  No burning man bullshit.  Seriously.

Easily the Golden Boys.  Great great songs and they put on a fun show, with the guitarist doing drunken back spins on the floor.  Best show I've seen in a while.

I think pretty much all the Subsonics stuff is gold. Such a good band. My favorite LP is Follow Me Down.

I said this before on some other thread, but if you ain't heard it yet, get the last album they put out, Die Bobby Die.  I swear, it's some of their best stuff yet!  It's on Slovenly and it went way under the radar.  I don't understand why more people don't love this band.

If it hasn't been said already, play him the Boys and the Exploding Hearts.  Some kids love that stuff, but if he's really pissed at the world it might sound gay to him.

Caetono Veloso
Can
Golden Boys ... still (saw them last Saturday in New York and they were fucking great!  the Wes Coleman solo 7" on Boom Chick is really good too)

Moondog (This is a total revelation for me.  Whenever I'd hear talk about Moondog I thought he was the guy who sang the old R&B song by that name.  Just downloaded two albums by him and, holy shit, I'm floored.  It's like the Shaggs meets twee pop meets weird indie rock with native american drumming and all  scored by Bach.  Not for all tastes but it's blowing my mind.  And this was recorded in the 50s & 60s.)

Winsor McCay, you can pick up the complete Little Nemo book pretty cheap. The dialogue is kinda just fluff but the artwork is amazing. You can also see a bunch of his early animation on YouTube, he did every cell himself.

Holy shit!  That's amazing.  I didn't believe it when I read it, but just found the entire Little Nemo series on Amazon for less then 20 bucks.  I bought two volumes of the Fantagraphics prints for a girlfriend 10 years ago paying $50 each and that was only 2 out of 6 books.  Didn't know there was a cheap issue out now.  McCay is genius.  Thanks for the tip Mike.

I'm no fan of Hotel California, but I'd rather listen to it twice in a row then ever sit through Candle in the Wind by Elton John.  Ugh!  That one makes me physically ill.
