Music Shit / Re: Can we talk about Cale for a minute?

i fucking adore paris 1919 and fear.  teenagegurls is right about the ballads - cale's slow stuff on those records are pretty remarkable.  antarctica starts here, hanky panky nohow, buffalo ballet, you know more than i know.  then again, songs like macbeth and barracuda are total gems.  i've listened to his stuff more than lou reed's in recent years.

like the songs, hate the videos.  the "i can't stand people who live in this dimension of san francisco" quote is so apt.  i don't know them or their friends, but i don't think i want to.  still, some of the songs are pretty wonderful and well composed.

but really, just watch the acoustic guitar covers on youtube of "lust for life" - there are five.  they're best when played all at the same time.  i mean this.

definitely accidentally played that sic alps clear blue one sided no label 7" with the throbbing gristle cover on my radio show in college at the wrong speed.

exile sounds like a band more than any other of their records, to me.  though i will always love sticky fingers because it reminds me of good times driving around LA in my friend carlos' wagon and between the buttons reminds me of my friend cate.  exile is still my favorite.

Music Shit / Re: John Fahey - Blind Joe Death

i have some copy of this that i got for like 12 bucks new at one point.  i've been told it's a boot, but i've got no info besides the fact that the label says takoma, there are no liner notes, and nothing but john fahey on one side and blind joe death on the other.  yeah, sounds like a boot.

100% agreed with these statements! after crazy rhythms is over, it's definitely time for another run through grey-eyed girls!

i went to jewish summer camp with joe kristol.  bill's son.  was a nice kid, but i was far too young to understand neoconservatism (16) and just thought it was chill that he liked the pixies.  dude went to harvard, haven't talked to him in years.  weird.
