Non-Music Shit / Re: Your Favorite JPEG/GIF

Henry Rollins came in the store I worked at and purchased one vinyl reissue copy of James Brown "Sho Is Funky Down Here."

He handed over his credit card, which did not have black bars, but I did find his name neatly typed in all caps HENRY ROLLINS amusing for some reason.

No fanfare to speak of had preceded this transaction and I was sorely tempted to say "Sorry, could I see some ID please?" but I figured he gets enough shit in his life, and so let it go.

BRUSH WITH FAME.

My brother introduced me to the joys of West Side Connection.

If you are from the West side of your town, any town, then you are better than everyone else.

They also have a song where they diss Cypress Hill for not being Mexican.

The ubermacho ones are always better in reverse.  I met a girl here who walked up to me, slapped me, and said "Buy me a drink."

Obviously I did.

This story would be better if it ended with me screwing her, but that is not how it went down.

Still, women should physically attack and make demands of men more.

Merry Christmas, I've got wood and I'm going to nail you.

Is your father a pharmacist? Cuz right after I take you I'm going to sleep.

Was your father a plumber? Because I'd like to shit all over you.

Would you like me take you to heaven? Because I'm going to kill you after I have sex with you.

Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago and then moving to the city a car was just a given.

Though I make less (in a much more dead end career (fake teaching)) after moving to Japan, no car payments, no insurance, no gas, no parking tickets, no stress, no hassle, plus getting to be constantly drunk, plus even shitty jobs here reimburse your train fare -- I would like to avoid having a car for as long as possible, whatever country I am in.

When I started writing that sentence I was trying to say that though I make less now, I have more disposable income.

Does the average termbro/termbroad have a car?  This thread would leave me to believe no, but the apt/crapper thread looked pretty swank.

It's some strange, meta thing about people's relationship with recorded images

that's what I got out of Sherman's March, too ... like he's attempting to film a movie according to this concept he came up with, but his real life ends up intruding on the realization of his project.
I gave him credit for doing that on purpose, but perhaps wrongly.  I also love the story I heard about the film that I don't want to verify/risk discrediting, that he got a grant from the government to make this film about Sherman's March on the South, which makes its steady descent into his personal life that much funnier.

That movie blindsided me, as my roommate at the time put it on and I was pretty much just annoyed at first.  By the time he has the camera on, dressed up in a general's uniform in the middle of the night in his girlfriend's kitchen, whispering a bunch of crap about Sherman (and himself) I was totally charmed and enjoying laughing with/at.

If you want "Terminal Boredom Continued" then 16 Wires disappoints, but I see it as very worthwhile development.  They managed to pack a lot of musicality and creativity in there, but still fast, loud, and fun.  With Velocity, even more so.  They are one of few punk (ish) bands who have enough going on sonically to actually make good use of a really high quality recording.

Most bands as they got "less punk" over time also got "more suck" but i would argue the Registrators actually got better.

Love it all, the oohs and ahs, phasers and hand claps, but not obvious and gimmicky, used to add nicely to great songs, chords, melodies, arrangements.

ART.

Sparks -- not a straight trajectory, but considering they've been around and good for 40 years and some of their best material is at the end of that, pretty incredible.

Doubt others would agree but I also say the Registrators.

I really like that Social Climbers record and would pretty much model a band after "That's Why" in particular.  I bought what I believe is a repress off ebay for $10 or $12...

All of Shell Shock Rock appears to be on youtube in a few different parts.

Cannot wait to watch the Kraftwerk movie, I didn't know that existed.  Same with the Monks movie.  Not quite willing to part with $70 now but will track it down eventually...

mrselvig, good point about a 2nd neutral option.

STEVE, not complaining, wondering if I should bother, since it seems like a pain in the ass to set up and I myself am not interested in it.  But if 67% of termbo thinks it is a good idea, I shall reconsider...

If you are interested, check it out.  3 songs each from Nanox, Joystax, The Climax, and Ex-Boy.  Nanox was my old band, and we played with the others quite a bit.  I really love the Joystax and Climax songs...

My main interest is sincerely in giving it away free, however I do obviously have hundreds sitting around taking up space, so if you would like a vinyl or cd copy, pm me, $10 pdd.
