99 and 44/100 % Dead
70s John Frankenheimer crime parody.  This has a lot of potential and is stylistically great (especially the underwater sequences showing all the people "sleeping with the fishes") but it oscillates between taking itself seriously and trying to be funny.  The result is that it does neither particularly well.  The moments of parody are too subtle or just aren't funny.  Nice shots of 70s San Francisco though.

O Lucky Man!
Lindsay Anderson and Malcolm McDowell's sequel to 'If...'.  Quite a strange blend of drama, comedy and fantasy that's over 3 hours long.   One of those movies that could only have been made in Britain in the early 70s, it sortof oscillates between a nudity-free 'Confessions' film and a searing social realist critique of capitalist society.  Mainly involves Malcolm McDowell making his way through bucolic countryside dressed like a member of Showaddywaddy and blundering into various perils in his attempts to make a few quid.  There's some really good bits at the end involving some strange goings-on in the East End of London and an African despot's negotiations with a nefarious corporate overlord but I'm not sure these scenes were worth the wait.  Alan Price (keyboardist for the Animals) provides the soundtrack and also appears throughout the movie.

yeah I don't see why Americans should be concerned with what's going on in Canada unless its something hugely unusual like a serial killer or crack-smoking mayor.  Canadian media is equally inward-looking.

Nobody is up in arms.  I think everyone in the Toronto media appreciates the high comedy.  This is the biggest spectacle of their lives.  Its their OJ.

Councillors and the media are going on and on about the "inappropriate" comments and how his "lewd" language is the final straw.  I'm sure they privately think its funny, but still, its just typical Toronto protestant outrage, same reason we won't ever have a casino or reasonable licensing laws.

Anyhow, getting back to the topic of  ex-staffer Oivia Gondek, it occurs to me that since everything else Ford's ever vehemently denied has turned out to be true, maybe he really did "bang that pussy."  Vile....

Ha, that is the first time I have seen the bobble heads. Sure were le-a-n-ient in the body mass.

Apparently the mayor's office revised the design many times before it was finalised

I like how everyone is now up-in-arms about the mayor saying "pussy" in a press conference.  Toronto the good indeed.....

I sortof want him to stay in office as its hampering his ability to go forward with his political agenda plus I'm enjoying the daily drama.  Latest news is that he's admitted to council that he's bought drugs in the last two years.  More information from the Lisi court transcript has been released today, looking forward to the write-up in the Star tomorrow.

There used to be a couple record stores on the sidestreets off Brick Lane but I can't find them on google.  Maybe ask at the Rough Trade East shop.

Its too bad there's no economical way to move houses.  Lots of good, structurally sound old houses in Detroit that could be moved to suburban subdivisions in other parts of the country and used in place of the souless horrors they build nowadays.
