I always discounted that 90s alternative rock powerpop strain of things until i worked with a dude who was in a failed one of those bands and he introduced me to teenage fanclub... it is pretty awesome if you like big star

what makes a tqquito a taquito?  the only taquito i'e ever had was at 7-11 and  it was like a mexican spring role, which i'm guessing isnt that authentic

Can-D in PKD's "flow my tears the policeman said" where you get to become Barbie and Ken to beat the boredome of being a moon colonist sounds pretty awesome.  that and the competitors drug that lets you create your own reality (Chew-Z).

that bursting into flames drug sounds really familiar and its gonna bother me all day trying to remember

for those with premium cable, TMN (canada's HBO) shows hardcore porn at night, at least in Ontario they do.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Movies I've been watching

My lil sis just got a French movie from Netflix called "Fat Girl".  I guess it is really sad, really fucked up, and really scary.  I didn't watch it because I didn't feel like being depressed.  She loves movies and recommends it highly, though.  Warning: extreme sexual content.

yup, that movie is pretty fucked and depressing.  powerful though.

The Boy Looked at Johnny is cool read too.

i though that book was a good artifact of the time but i found the arguments made my Burchill and Parson infuriating.  "Tom Robinson is the only real punk, etc"... come on

Music Shit / Re: do you still buy cds?
« on: January 11, 2007, 02:11:54 AM »
every now and again when there's a mainstream album thats just come out and i'm excited to have it, I'll buy it on cd, because even if there is a vinyl version, its mostly been produced for cds and thats how history will remember it.  The last album i got like that was the Streets - hardest way to make an easy living

i'll also occasionally buy anthologies and reissue cds when they're well put-together or have lots of unreleased tracks.  the last cds of that sort I bought were Velvet Tinmine and the Jook cd.

am i the only one who likes the cro-mags?  i'm sure they have a lot to answer for in regards to all the moshmetal they've inspired, but age of quarrel is amazing.  i'm no toughguy and i hate metal but that album is one of the hardest ever.  plus the legend of harley is amazing... hanging out with ginsberg, andy warhol and the clash as a little kid, being in the stimulators, becoming the first nyc skinhead thanks to gigging with the Outcasts in northern ireland.
