we werent a scam mailorder we just had a run of bad luck with our old post office.  we havent had any problems since we moved.  just mailed out over 500 mailorders from the new batch and so far so good.

( terje i got your email as well)...

And bad luck with answering emails?

Yeah. I have ordered from trblmn two times. First time 2 records were missing in the package. Emailed trblmn twice about this, and no reply. Second time I place an order there, the package (BD LP) never showed up. Emailed trblmn, still no answar.

I talked to Toby like a week or two ago.

I'm not making excuses or some elaborate story, but I can tell you that despite coming across like a mega flake and fuck up to everyone, he really has good intentions and is a positive guy.

Like Rick, I've known Toby for like 6 years now. I write this off to be this: he's got a ton of shit going on that's all crazy, and it is very hard to keep up.

I do a label, Gilgongo, and like Toby, have a normal job, and sometimes, I myself end up in weird situations where a week and a half have gone by, and I have 30 orders that need to go out, and on occasion, things DO get messed up.

There's so many other things at play.

This was a pre-order, I still don't think he has the physical covers from Imprint. Imprint does the 7"s in house, but had new machinery, and it was causing a delay. Ask around, he's not the only one that's had to deal with it.

In comparison, with me working a typically 10 hour a day job, and alway splaying or going to shows, I have a hard time keeping track of all the small things with each order and blah blah blah. That's an average of 20 a week.

Toby's got infinite times more than that on his plate, minimal time to deal with it, and an instantaneos backlash by people.

Another comparison. I just released a new CD for a folky guy, Stephen Steinbrink, who used to be French quarter. I did a pre=order, it came with a zine and an extra CDr, no more than 35 people did it. Despite saying it would not mail until the end of January or whatever, before January was over, I had AT LEAST 10 of these people e-mailing me multiple times about the "status" of their order. Which is obviously annoying.

Although he doesn't have specific dates thrown down, and I would not argue that a lot of time has gone by, it's also impossible to place some blame for the overwhelming backlash on the nature of the consumre. In my case, it was indie dorks on a CD,... you guys are legit collectors on some hyped projects.

That sound shitty maybe, but perhaps you get what I mean?

Anyway, when I talked to him, he was talking about quitting the label after these things wrap up, beause the ammount of stress he was getting from the plants fucking things up, the cover makers having huge delays, and so so so many people complaining and pissed, he felt burnt out and already, the the cons outweighed the pros, and in that case, I am sure they do.

I reassured him that what he's doing with this label is valid. You can all go fuck yourself if you can't acknowledge that these are exiting releases, right?

But agreed, in the future? a preorder is totally a shitty idea until you've got a verson of the final product sitting in there with you, or have fair reason to no have concerns.

Obviously, I am friends with this guy. No shit.

however, it goes deeper than that. ...being another person that puts things out and seeing the ammount of unrealistic backlash you can receive makes me sympathetic to how this is playing out and why he is so bummed.

Dude's a sweet heart who has consistently had other people shit all over him and then felt like a target when the community writes it off as "this retard shat on himself". He's not perfect, no one on here is, but he's not doing this with bad intentions.

Not to mention all of this, he's running this in teamwork with his partner / girlfriend, who is also a legit person who also works her ass of doing great work in the normal world. (like myself).

It just really bums me out to see an entire group of people completely tear down someone. I'm not saying none of the complaints are valid. Duh, some are. But there's also reasonable explanations that he's shot in there when he could. And for everyone one of you that hasn't gotten anything, there's like 10 that have. And the process has been slow, but you know, how oten to you hear from the satisfied costumer who doesn't lurk message boards?

Let me tell you something else...

Two sides to every story regarding most things, since people want to dig up issues relating to HARDCORE and forever ago. I will instead of address the fact that his side is both sad and compelling, the fact that he's been touring all over the country every since, and not a single person has ever followed through with one of this silly fucking threats, and in some cases, meet him and things are cool and fine.

Toby is extremely ambitious, loves fucked shit, and was more than ready to dive into this full force. He's been hit by a train of bad luck, that get's flipped all on top of him, and it's a fucking bummer to watch.

I wish he'd be on here more, with more explanations, but can't blame him for steering clear of a constant onslaught of negativity, doubt and slander.

If he is so busy, he shouldnt do recordlabels if he hasnt got the time.... No matter what, he screwed up BIG time and is acting like a real jerk.
