Music Shit / Re: LEE HARVEY OSWALD BAND Blastronaut LP??
« on: July 12, 2010, 09:33:07 PM »
Seriously, I have no doubt that they could unload 1000 copies of a nice vinyl release.  This record is loved on a level near Apocalypse Dudes and has pretty broad appeal.

I wonder what the possibility might be for another label to license a vinyl version.

By the way, here is a Zowie Fenderblast interview I found recently:

http://assemblyplantmarietta.blogspot.com/2010/06/zowie-fenderblasts-first-interview.html

Does anyone have the Lizzies demo from a few years back featuring Savic/Zowie??

funny interview, funny comments at the bottom, too.
i'll say this, if Savic is lying about working in a prison, he's been telling the same lies a long time.
all the stuff about legalizing tattooing in Athens is true.
interesting, deeply weird dude, and completely full of shit.
great songs, though, and dude definitely wrote and sang all those songs.
I used to have some demos of a Zowie Fenderblast & The Martian Army thing...
this was before Blastronaut, and some of the songs showed up on that record.
it was way more of a straight-ahead Bowie rip, but about the best Bowie rip you could imagine.
the whole thing was supposed to be some sort of concept album about a manufactured war on Mars-
Philip K. Dick meets Bowie.  radd.

dude also has one of the most fuckedup memorable tattoos I've ever seen-
a naked woman with a corncob in her pussy being eaten by a pig,
with scrolls that say "God Bless Us Everyone."
ha, dude likes to fuck with people a bit.

Hell yeah!

Listened to the Lee Harvey Oswald Band today. Rick Sims = genius.

Rick Sims is radd, but he's not what made LHOB so good.
Savic aka Zowie wrote fucking anthems.

Music Shit / Re: CITY ROCK

Is it too early in the study of this important cultural niche
to talk about what films/books/television programming
reflected the influence of city rock on the culture at large?
any historic/media events that illustrate city rock's prevalence?

well, if you would stop being lazy,
you'd see that every source says that LSD use declined during the 70s and 80s,
had a slight surge of popularity again in the 90s,
and has presently dropped far off the map.

and while drug use doesn't decrease,
different drugs go through waves of popularity.
acid has never been more popular than it was in the 60s and early 70s.

you don't think in the 60's before it was made illegal that a much wider spectrum of people were trying LSD?
I mean, I know there have been gatherings since the Acid Tests where psychedelic drugs were as common,
but only at raves, and those people obviously have no souls.

I also think it likely has something to do with your expectations of the drug.
If you expect to see God or like...experience the oneness of all things or something,
you will get a very different experience from someone who intends
to listen to fucking techno and maybe giggle at some Scooby Doo.

60s acid damage vs. modern acid damage-

probably the main difference is that doses in the 60's were often 10x higher
than later doses in the 80s and 90s.

typical dose in 60s - 200 to 1000 micrograms.
typical dose by the 80s - 100 to 125 micrograms.
typical dose in the 90s - 20 to 80 micrograms

Beyond this, I also think so many more people total took LSD in the 60s than in later decades.

Obviously some people shouldn't take LSD anyway,
like those with family history of schizophrenia or minister's kids.
