REAL TALK IN HERE! TERRIFIC SINGLE!

Totally stoked!

Q: is the flip the same song as "oh Tonight" under different name or different song? Guessing it ain't the same...

Thanks!

"Forever" is a totally different song than "Oh Tonight," which is being slated for Gorilla's second single on Pop 'n' Roll.

Flat-tire powerpop band Gorilla's debut single is out NOW on Three Dimensional Records. If you like either of those Choosers singles from a few years back, be sure to hop on this.

With this single Tokyo's Gorilla have so faithfully reproduced the sound of late seventies/early eighties US powerpop that -- if it wasn't for the slightly accented vocals -- it could easily pass for an recently unearthed Bomp! warehouse find. "Mary Anne" is such a great song that if it had of been on comps like Shake Some Action or Yellow Pills it would have stood out as one of the better tracks. Powerpop gets no better than this folks. On the flip side, "Forever" is an ultra-infectious anthem that will be stuck in your head for days. This single is an absolute must for any powerpop fan, or anyone who appreciates great songwriting. Although this is a 300 copy pressing, 100 of those copies sold out during Gorilla's recent nationwide Japanese tour, which means we're left with just 200 copies for sale. Act quick folks!!!!

My takes on RAW Monday this past Monday night can be summed up in two three word phrases:

The drizzling shits

OR

We want Ambrose

A song Fink sings on the first Firestarter demo called "Headache." Not sure if it's a Replacements cover or not, since I can't remember how the Replacements' song goes.

A+ bait and switch!

Saw this LP for sale at a store in Japan. Wasn't cheap.

If I had the wall space, I'd be all about one of these. I have two turntables and my primary use one skips on records with even slight damage on them, but is overall more convenient than my tank like old Technics with the unfortunate auto return feature on it. Be nice to have 'em both hooked up for those problematic records.

Holy shit. Force Theresa to write a regular monthly column. That poem was the best thing I've ever read on Terminal Boredom.

For double the price of the Sing Sing, why not just save your money for an OG? Does the world really need $30-plus reissues?

Privateways-Information Disc

I'm so amazed that I actually managed to get this, sooooooo good.

That was a magical yakinuku tabehoudai moment indeed: (No Longer So) Young Steve and J Bone both receiving complimentary copies of the Privateways 1st single after stuffing our gobs with meat and various J fixings. Pretty sure "She Said" is the a-side tho.

PS: I'll bring you your jeans/present from Takako to the show tomorrow night!

Lesnar's promo tonight was MONEY.

Can't wait for Ambrose to get back. Raw is really missing something without him. Reigns is just another hoss.

Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Re: Sleeves/vinyl needed

Need sleeve for Voice of the Puppets. Anyone holding?

Thanks.

Whoa! Nice move there buddy.

I'd like a sleeve for the Numbers "Rock Stars" EP if anyone has a spare, but if not, oh well.

My march through the records I picked up in Japan continues:

Numbers "Rock Stars" EP
So awesome!!!! Sleeve is a copy, but I got this as a going away/birthday present so I can't complain. Don't really feel the need to buy a sleeved copy, as this is otherwise perfect. Such a great record, and one I thought it would take me much longer to get.

Newtown Neurotics "Hypocrite" 45
As coincidence would have it, I just got into this song on the plane ride over, as I downloaded Back to Front 2 just before the trip. Total jam.

Rock A Cherry "Aisatsu Undo" split single
Really good catchy punky powerpop, reminding me of a Japanese Riff Randalls or something. Cool single!

New York Dolls "Too Much Too Soon" LP
Used to have a boot of this that came out in the 90's, but sold it awhile back. I once thought this album was a letdown compared to the first, but now I think I like it more. Thunders' riffs on this album are particularly tasty.

Gangsters s/t LP
Another record I used to have as a boot, but finally got an OG on this past trip. Got this as a gift as well, this time from Inoue-san from First Alert. Dude rules hard!!!

Stooges "No Fun" LP
Japanese edition, complete with obi, of weird non-US comp of the first two Stooges LP. For five bucks, why not? I always think of the first album as a bit shambolic and amateurish compared to Funhouse, but hearing "I Wanna Be Your Dog" sandwiched between Funhouse cuts made me realize just how powerful the guitar work on the first album really is.

Janet "Green Speedway" LP
"Sweeter" rules, rest of the a-side is pretty bad 70's shmaltz pop. Haven't listened to side b yet.

First Alert "Nobody Catch My Call" 45
Total grail single here, and one I got as a last minute going away gift on my most recent Japan jaunt. Both this version of the a-side, and the take of "Wasting of My Young Time" are far better than the versions on the first and second First Alert albums. Rules that Inoe-san wrote both of these songs, since I hung out with him in Kyoto and he was a totally awesome dude.
