Does anyone on here actually have their record collection insured?  I mean, how do you go about doing that?  Do you itemize every record you own and assign the going rate for it.  I would think insurance companies probably wouldn't believe that certain records go for $100s of dollars and they would probably just assign an arbitrary amount across the board to every record you have.  How do you prove to them that you have valuable records.  Also my collection is always in a state of flux so half the stuff I might have had a year ago I don't have today and vice versa.  Just seems like if something like this happens you are really gonna get screwed.

Do they put any comedy on vinyl anymore? Besides the Neil Hamburger 7"?

Yeah, I think Drag City did vinyl for the last couple Neil Hamburger records.  Matador just put out a limited Earles and Jensen LP.  Their stuff is pretty good if you're into the prank call thing.    Stand Up! Records did limited vinyl pressings of the David Cross Sub Pop albums and some Lewis Black stuff.

Non-Music Shit / Re: best real names

A friend told me he came across a dude named Jonas Brothers.

I think that would be the worst.  When you have a perfectly normal name for say 20 or 30 years and then some asshole(s) comes along and makes a mockery of it for the rest of your life.  Like Michael Bolton in "Office Space."

Heard this is bad news also.  Sucks because it seems like Larry David would be the most perfect Woody Allen stand-in yet.  Who is more Woody Allen than Larry David?

I'm pretty sure this guy finally decided to break up his collection, after being so insistent at first that it stay together.  I thought I saw some eBay auctions from someone representing him a few months back.  I used to have it bookmarked, but can't find it now.  They were listing individual LPs, mostly psych pieces and classic rock and soul.  Getting decent prices, but I'll bet whatever he ends up getting won't amount to $3 milliion, much less $50.

Music Shit / Comedy Records

Anybody got any favorite comedy records?  Never really listened to too many, but have been picking some up lately and enjoying them.  Got some old Redd Foxx, Rudy Ray Moore, Bob and Doug McKenzie stuff.  Good times.  Also had to pick up this Gallagher record simply for this awesome pic on the back cover

I hoped it would consist of 45 minutes of the sounds of smashing watermelons with novelty hammers.  Sadly, the comedy was more "observational" in tone.

What else is good?

my screen name is actually an homage to the real Mr. Ssssssnake.  I worked at a video store 10 years ago and we would ask people their names to look them up in the computer.  I asked this guy his name and he looked at me and just said, "ssssssnake."  I asked again and he said, "ssssssnake.  Mister Ssssssnake."  Being positive, that I had heard him wrong, I asked for his ID.  He handed me his driver's license and sure enough, first name Mister last name Ssssssnake.
