Music Shit / Re: COVER SONGS THAT ARE BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL

nirvana fucking sucks. i can't tolerate kurrdt propane propane's voice. their cover of "love buzz" is among the worst hunx of shit ever made.

Lot of talk about these guys on here today.  Someone needs to start a Nirvana thread that will eventually get moved to the Pop Punk board.

People will tell you all covers of Leonard Cohen songs are better than the original.  Those people are wrong.

Ha. Mr. Cave's version of "Avalanche" is pretty great tho.

I haven't heard that one.  Nick Cave seems like he'd do a pretty respectful Cohen cover.   I usually just despise the covers that are done with a "good" vocalist and add a bunch of backup singers and extra instrumentation and all that bullshit.

while i'm off topic, Donny Hathaway's cover of "Jealous Guy" is a personal favorite.

Music Shit / Re: NEGATIVE APPROACH EP
« on: May 09, 2009, 09:46:31 AM »
seems like touch and go were starting to embrace their history a little bit recently with the fix lp and reissues of negative approach and die kreuzen on vinyl.  i'll never know why they didn't repress the necros stuff.  but obviously they must have run out of money to do anything as they are basically defunct now.
dischord keeps putting out more and more vinyl reissues and virtually has no new bands on their roster (none worth a shit at least)  but you're right, they still haven't caught on about the 7"s.  it's mostly full length reissues with mp3 codes.
who runs Plan 9 these days anyway?  is it really an existing label?

Beach Blvd.
The New Hope
Let Them Eat Jellybeans
They Pelted Us with Rocks and Garbage
Not So Quiet on the Western Front
Flex Your Head

New Hope and Pelted Us are great.  Are there any other NE Ohio comps from this time period? (aside from the Bowling Balls and Stiff Akron comp)

Klaus Nomi is punker than any of you on this board and there's no telling how many dicks he had in his mouth.  Just throwin' that out there.

Now see, this is boring.  A bunch of people ripping the most predictably awful bands.  At least the original Radiohead thread was kind of funny.

Gang of Four was really good when I saw em a couple years ago.  Same with Buzzcocks. Stiff Little Fingers wasn't all that bad either.  That's not to say I need to hear any new material by either of em.

Cities / Re: Who lives in DENVER, COLORADO?
« on: April 28, 2009, 04:25:38 PM »
Is 15th St. Tavern still around?  Saw a lot of good shows there when I lived there.  But this was the late '90s.  Like everyone else said, the sunshine can help your atttitude, especially if you're used to the midwest or northwest.
and most of the hippies stay in the Boulder bubble.  Denver's just like any other big city.  I don't know.  I liked it.
