Alright, 5 reasons why the Fabulous Diamonds S/T is better than other current releases:
Starting from point 5:
5. The cover artwork is fucking sick
4. The whole album comes off as really classy without falling into some aesthetic
3. The choice of instrumentals are for the most part acoustic/non-electric, to me, it gives it that organic/timeless feel to it. So many bands today are incorporating synth/pre-programmed sounds etc. that i've had this really weird paranoia that this industry in music is eventually going to rely on computers like everything else in the world.
2. Their use of tape/delay is fucking brilliant. This album is given a whole new element by correctly utilizing effects, rather than hiding/masking the music, which is another thing I feel alot of bands/records today are guilty of.
1. I think that this is a universal-drug record. I firmly believe that played at the correct volume, in a large gathering of people with different musical tastes and background, anyone involved in drugs would like this record. **
Right after I came up with this whole theory in my head, my roommate came home, sat down, and started reading some book about his favourite band PHISH (yeah, i know). This record was on, he asked who it was, and said it was "weird, but actually pretty good"... THEORY CONFIRMED.
But I'll probably reread and delete this in the next couple days...
And I used to work with this guy from Australia, and I let him listen to both The Fabulous Diamonds and NOTV, he told me that their music would do really well at raves, I guess the big rave scene in Australia is kinda cool?
