Music Shit / Re: FUN THINGS EP

I don't even like that song that much! Even if I did, how could that song be better than "Great Balls of Fire" or "I'm Not Like Everbody Else" or "Heroin" or a million other rnr classics?

It's top Ten for sure, but I'd place the 1st Users, Weirdos Dangerhouse single and the Pagans I Juvenile/Not Now No Way ahead of it.

Those are not eps. I had that French pressing as a youngster, and was amazed at how good the fucking songs they left off were later on. Made no sense to leave 'em off!

Young Steve - I was much more excited when I hit 666 posts. I put on women's underwear and moshed to Venom.

Scott - what's your take on being a funny motherfucker? Also, what's your take on Richard's routine (seriously) of blasting Iron Maiden while vacuuming and singing as though the extenda-tube were a mic?

Agreed - "best ep" was determined at a basement show about 5-6 years ago (I think in Milwaukee - you shoulda been there, Simon), and Fun Things was donned "best punk ep." I remember a few people pushing hard for the first Minor Threat, but they were drunk. "Savage" was my favorite song when I was a high schooler and thought about "favorite songs" and top 10 best this-thats.

Yeah, I'm no Forever Changes fan, either. I like the rockers a lot, though, and some of earlier pussy tunes are better than the shit on FC, I think. I know it's a "classic" everyone is supposed to like, but I'm not into it.

How is the Telephone 45?

Actually, that one is decent. It's what you'd expect of a new wave French band on Virgin (France) around 1980 or whatever. A little overblown, and only the a-side is all that catchy, but it was worth a buck, for sure. You'd like it, I think. The Link 45 on Swan was, you know, Link. I still need to listen more...the Seeds 45 was great, but I knew the songs going in. That store is pretty cool - I still need to dig through the dollar singles and $2 LPs, which I haven't even touched.

Paul - I was really disappointed in how bad the expected good records were and how off-base on the unknowns I was. I blew money on only a few cool records. However! The record you suggested is really good, so it wasn't a total wash. I liked it more than I thought I would - it definitely isn't as pub rock as I thought. It was also nice to get "Nervous Breakdown" for a few bucks and a couple others...but yeah, not as good a haul as I expected.

I already told you everything mentioned here (which name came first, the Burroughs connection, the fact that they added a drastically different-sounding singer later on, etc.). You're like the fish Ellen Degeneres (sp) played in "Finding Nemo."

I already told you a buncha' shit about them, douche. That's a cool album you have. You should give it to me.

Many of O'Connor's stories are vastly superior to Wiseblood

Agreed. In today's parlance, "it's all good." Disagree on Moby Prick, I hated that book. I know it's yer fave, but I read it twice and both times I was cursing the fucker. Same with "La Peste" and "A Confederacy of Dunces" - can't stand these classics (love "The Stranger" and many Camus essays and other writing).

Steve probably doesn't like 13th Floor Elevators, Red Crayola, Spacemen 3, Love, etc., so why would he like Gris Gris? I mean, I hate metal, so why would I like a new band that was sorta like Megadeth?

Goddamnit, Oscar is probably the least pretentious fucker I've ever met (I mean, he's also a member of the RnR Adventure Kids, for fucksakes), and Greg is as genuine as it gets. You don't know legit from shinola, period. Just stick to the 547 bands from Japan who ape Teengenerate and wear stripey shirts, white belts and skinny ties - I'm sure they all mean it, maaaan.
