yeah i think music rules. there is more music i want than i can afford. it seems like i discover five artists or records a week that i want - and that's not counting all the old shit i need to catch up on. it's like an endless feast of awesome. i have extremely broad taste though, so that helps.

just bite the bullet and save up for a technics mk-1200. it will last 30 years. better to pay $450 for something that lasts forever and sounds awesome than replace a $50-150 one that sounds like shit every couple of years.

you can sometimes find decent 1200s on ebay for less than $300, but they are often so beat up that you're not really getting a deal.

i've heard of people going into circuit city or other, similarly crappy stores and getting floor-model 1200s for like $100 b/c the salespeople don't give a shit. if there are any stores like this in your area, it's worth a shot. pawn shops sometimes have 1200s as well, so a half-hour of phone calls to area shops wouldn't be a waste of time.
