Non-Music Shit / Re: Your Favorite JPEG/GIF

Is that fucking THOMAS BERNHARD!?

He seems so cheerful.  I pictured a worried-looking guy, no snow.

"Everything about people is mean. Meanness and nature, as the nature of meanness, complement one another, I say. Now and again people speak out, but there is no point to speaking out. The only thing in their heads is the lust for profit and the malice of deception, I say. If you take nature apart, it is easy to recognize that its construction is a deception in all its parts."

We are assembling and mixing songs for our new record, Whimpers from the Pantheon. You can listen to or d-load about half of it for free-- here: http://fagcop.bandcamp.com/ and if you feel like stuffing e-dollars in our elastic, you may.

Allegedly, the LP is coming out from Rank Toy in October. WHO KNOWS.

Music Shit / Re: 2 guitars no bass
« on: June 16, 2011, 08:02:30 PM »
how do you make 2 guitars, no bass sound good in a band?

Consider that you don't need to make it sound good. If you are bent on making bass-lessness sound bass-y, make the drummer play more quietly and/or turn down the mids and highs.

My band made "the switch" a while ago-- now there is no bass and 2 guitars, and I like it, if for no other reason than it sounds more fucked up. I think it's less about writing songs specifically for that instrumentation and more about not caring. Bass players are OK in that they are usually trusted wingmen, but beyond that they occupy valuable space.

Here is a video of us playing an old song with no bass and no kick drum, which actually seems to balance out the no bass guitar bullshit. http://youtu.be/8GStzyCuIUY

I have some perchance contacts in U-rape. We can share and get some Euro-daddy on here to give us info. You got a tentative start date?

We're neglecting the fact that I found a 3 inch breast pin that reads: HELLO to all the friends I've yet to meet.

Best fest.

Word from various horses' mouths is that only the most elite of the garage culture are allowed admittance. I'm staring at the venue right now with laser eyes. Will the peasants revolt?

this is a joke.  No FAG COP!  an obvious scheme concocted by the folks over the GP Hideout for some google traffic.

EX-Fag Cop, The Spook Lights, Weird Wounds, Strong Smells + more (all great Lawrence local bands) are playing the Replay Lounge same day, non-Scion event.  Replay Lounge is across the street from the Jackpot and a short walk from all the venues.

Looks like shit is going down the night before and the night after(?) Which means: pre-drinking in the park at noon pre-fest, Burrito King, and Sleaze Pizzas Bicycle Gang all day. I am selling floorspace at my house for hash.

DETAILS: The Spook Lights, Ex-FAG COP, Strong Smells, Wayne Pain & The Cum Draculas

FRIDAY, OCT ONE

@

Replay Lounge (best bar ever): 946 MASS

2 or 3 bucks.

Bring your beautiful smiles.

Anyone know of any good restaurants in Lawrence or any things/places to stop at on the way from Texas?
I heard there's a Hasil Atkins museum in OK that's also a bowling alley. Never been.

Why would there be a Hasil Adkins museum in OK?

No idea. After I wrote that I googled it and realized someone must have been fucking with me when they told me that.

Can I party in your hotel room?

Saturday morning veggy biscuits and gravy at Mirth Cafe cannot be beat. (Sitting there now with a digital device, slurping endless coffee. I had the Monte Cristo though.) Aimee's is best for broke mofos with low B&G standards and a love of alcoholic caricaturists. Milton's is good but the last refuge of the dying bourgeosie. Hop in a car and go to Kelly's on 19th for delicious sausage-egg diarrhea prophesies. Wheatfields is a little pricey but delicious and stumbleable.

Not breakfast? Fuck you. La Parilla and La Esquina slam shit. Two tofu tacos and two cans of Tecate for like six bucks at the latter. Burger lovers hit the Casbah and then take a nap cuz you'll need it.

Visit my yelp profile for more in depth restaurant reviews, interviews, and jpegs of used food sculptures.
