Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Some basic 90s shit
« on: January 15, 2008, 11:47:40 PM »
I'm looking to pick up some basic (to me) 90s indie LPs that I have found are missing or got mysteriously fucked up/scratched. I'm just bored of ebay, somebody have these for sale or trade for non eye-rolling prices?

Royal Trux s/t the one with the skulls on the cover
Beat Happening 'Black Candy' on K/Rough Trade
Quintron 'Satan Is Dead'
Zip Code Rapists 'Sing and Play 3 Doctors'

Music Shit / This band, is like, radical?
« on: December 24, 2007, 11:44:36 AM »
Right? They have to be, just according to this NYT article:

" Jason Brody, lead singer for an independent pop-rock band in the East Village, said his group recently altered its shopdropping tactics to cater to the holiday rush.

Normally the band, the Death of Jason Brody, slips promotional CD singles between the pages of The Village Voice newspaper and into the racks at large music stores. But lately, band members have been slipping into department stores and putting stickers with logos for trendy designers like Diesel, John Varvatos and 7 for All Mankind on their CDs, which they then slip into the pockets of designer jeans or place on counters.

?Bloomingdale?s and 7 for All Mankind present the Death of Jason Brody, our pick for New York band to watch in 2008,? read a sticker on one of the CDs placed near a register at Bloomingdales. ?As thanks for trying us on, we?re giving you this special holiday gift.? Bloomingdales and 7 for All Mankind declined to comment."

I think the bottom is about to fall out nationwide:

"At stake is nothing short of the continued existence of the U.S. banking system"

Then again, I love disaster flicks, so even if I end up warming my hands over an oil barrel full of burning Ikea wood chips and eating my cats for dinner, it still sounds like a wild ride.

Non-Music Shit / New Riots anyone?
« on: November 27, 2007, 03:27:10 PM »
Anyone following the recent new round of riots in France? Looks as potentially horrific as last time. Now they're just shooting pigs with rifles. I can't see the historically short-tempered French riot police taking that for another 24 hours.

And none, NONE of the news stories really gives you a clear story on the initial spark, that car-motorbike accident. It's either PC-redacted or frothing right wing paranoia.

Stick to the Rockpile demos and obscure Finnish psych where the band members are all dead, and you should be fine.
