Hey friends, I need to levy some transactions "taxes" for all those $1 moves over the 40 allowed.

If you are capable of subtracting the number 40 from your total moves and sending that amount to

curtiswestview@gmail.com

...as a personal payment I can throw those taxes into the pot, then calculate the proportional extra payoff to our 1-2-3 finishers:

1 - Bubblebuttzz
2 - Gassy
3 - Larry Whipdick

Congrats to the above!

I was in the hunt right up through Sept, even traded slots for 1st place, then my pitching (starters and relievers) totally disintegrated over 10 days, and you can't repair that kind of damage this late in the season. Congrats to whoever, fuckface!

Wow, a pre-order for an overseas record (for 90% of potential buyers) 3 months out from a theoretical pressing of 100 copies.

 What could possibly go wrong?

That La Weekly shit was in the hard copy when I was there last week - coincidance?

Anyone remember Epicenter Zone on Valencia north of 16?th street?

Thrillhouse used to be a joke of a record store, like Mission Records before it. Unlike Mission Records, Thrillhouse managed an Act Two: an excellent record store! They are really quite useful now, and always worth a stop. And the food options around there haven't descended to curated yuppie shit yet, so it's a great trip out of Greenpoint Bedford the Inner Mission. The only main aspects left of 16th St from the early 90s are the liquor stores, the SRO hotels still full of paroled child molesters, and the Roxie theater.

And the article gets it wrong about Epicenter's decline. The main bummer effect of the Burst Pipe Affair (the lawsuit was handled by the insurance companies anyway, just one suing the other to recover losses they paid out to the clothing store) was no more live shows due to the risk. That hurt the volunteer base, the community outreach aspect, and the store's visibility. Dot Com Bubble One was the final nail in the coffin, signaling the beginning of the end of the casual cheapskate boho punker in SF, so finding halfway competent bodies for shifts became impossible. The store did close in the black though, thanks to the two final coordinators, Liberty and Kate.

Last bit I saw him in was his cameo on Louie, which was themed around a funeral. Huh.

David Price to the Tigers. Keeping pace with the A's.

A's get Lester and Gomes for Cespedes, just traded Millone for Willingham? Fuld? Both?

Gentry is out and Crisp is hurting, they kinda need Fuld. I figure Beane does not see Milone as anything but an innings-eater, something the Twins can use but is useless to a playoff-caliber team that needs to think about raw talent match ups.

Cespedes for Lester was a great trade, the A's can now out-pitch potential AL teams in any short playoff series. They have plenty of hitting without him. For the first time in memory Beane is ALL IN.

Getting hit with the Uggla Stick. His pickup was not denkinger-approved, they already had a .200-hitting 2B in Hicks who can also hit a HR every 30 AB, and Hicks can actually play defense. Just Sabean Veteran Brain Rot again.

Wonder if Edgardo Alfonzo is still available? I hear he's tearing up the Venezuelan over-40 whiffle ball league this summer!!!!

I can't endorse Number 1 completely, the best parts are the anecdotes of him growing up in the rough parts of the East Bay in the 40s and getting that king size chip on his shoulder. But the 70s inside baseball stuff is a bit more edited, the guy was still working for a living in baseball so he couldn't burn that bridge all the way.

I wonder if Nick Tosches would even do a book-length project at this point?

Hey folks,

The Hemlock in San Francisco is going to host a record swap this Sunday Aug 3, starting at 1PM until "question mark". It's free to sell, no admission, and you can drink while you paw through shit. Kind of ideal set up actually. I'll be selling mostly punk-wave-90s shite but other sellers are bringing the funk. Or the New Age.

Please contact me if you are interested in selling, although it's getting kinda full already: cityhobb @@@@ yahoo.

Here is an example of what we'll be shifting, stuff akin to this:
