But on a side note I still haven't received two previous orders from you guys.

Really? When were they ordered, send an email to info@capturedtracks.com

I've sent 2 emails in the last 3 weeks regarding the no show of my last order in July. No reply to either so far.

What?! Maybe it's going into the Spam folder. E-mail me at info@capturedtracks.com today and I'll try to straighten it out. Weird.

Will Thee Oh Sees have these on tour with them next week?  What about Ganglians right now (on tour with WAVVES)?

Mr. Dwyer should already have his compact discs, and he's picking up his vinyl at Gonerfest. (I just checked the USPS, his package just showed up in Memphis so all is well there.)

Probably getting Ganglians their copies when they come through New York on the Waaves toour.

We've put these on sale, and we start shipping next week. "Boo-yah".

Hello gum-chewers and bile-spewers,

I'd like to announce the release of six new records on Captured Tracks, and one old favorite in a new and fantastic format.

CT-025 -  THE BITTERS 7"

"East" is the next installment of the Bitters story. Featuring Ben Cook of Fucked Up/Young Governor and the great voice of Aerin Fogel, The Bitters "cave pop" is doomy as it is infectious. Coming live soon to a theater near you.

CT-026 - GANGLIANS 7"

If you liked the 12" EP and LP by these Sacramento weird-poppers, then you'll love this, their first non-split 7". Two equally amazing tracks, and in our opinion, two of their best.

CT-027 -  THE OH SEES - DOG POISON LP/CD

We are proud to put out a full-length record by the prolific Oh Sees, and boy, is this one a monster. More layered and textural than previous Oh Sees releases while keeping all the typical Dwyer punch,
oomph and weirdness. 10 fantastic new songs, terrifying pencil-drawn sleeve. Our second LP release, and we couldn't be more pleased with it.

CT-028 - SPECTRALS 7"

A young British man named L. singlehandedly produced this dreamy, Sonic Flower Groovy fuzz-pop stomper, although it sounds like it could have been recorded at Gold Star in 1965 for release on Creation in
1985. Two tracks, one million hooks. We're really proud to be putting this out in anticipation of a 2010 Captured Tracks LP.

CT-029 - CHRISTMAS ISLAND 7"

Two song seven inch about the pits and perils of ages Nineteen and Twenty-Nine, respectively. Part Flying Nun, part Bubblegum. This coincides with a fantastic upcoming LP release on In The Red. One of
our favorite bands.

CT-030 - THE GERMAN MEASLES - WILD 12" Maxi-EP/Mini-LP

Out of control, drugged up, fucked up madness from Brooklyn's premiere party freaks. Almost the polar opposite of this spring's cassette release - these songs are confident, insane and beautifully recorded
by Gary Olson. Some sort of funky mix of The Soup Dragons, Black Randy, Protex and The Fall had they recorded for Bhudda. All the subtlety of Sonny Bono trying to barge his way into a restaurant while
wearing a fur vest. Features 2/4ths of the legendary Cause Co-Motion!

CT-010-1 THE BEETS "SPIT ON THE FACE OF PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO BE
COOL" CD

The instant classic Beets LP, now available on the popular "CD" format. The songs you love, available for listening to in cars, shower radios, etc. These guys are currently blazing their way across the States on the "Nightmare of Sound" tour with the Vivian Girls. (Check out the promotional tour video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rTvnBG-gO8) The inlay and disc contain all new Matt Volz artwork, featuring even more professional wrestling, gore and disrespect for people who don't want to be cool.

This should be available around the week's end at http://capturedtracks.com. Watch this space. Distros, please contact me at info@capturedtracks.com for wholesale inquiries.

"I'm warning you with peace and love",
Abe

I think that the best Alien Ant Farm song is "Movies", what do you think?

This is the thread for talking about that crazy cool band, Alien Ant Farm. Does anyone here have a copy of the AAF/Reatard split? I will pay big money for it, serious offers only, thanks.

Hey, I love Black Flag too - especially the weird, later shit

you're kidding right?

No, not kidding at all. My favorite Black Flag stuff is the very, very early stuff and the very, very late stuff.

Half the fuckfaces on here love Steely fucking Dan, so I think you're safe.

I love Steely Dan too. One of the best. I have also met Donald Fagen and he is AWESOME.

By the way, can we come up with a different go-to band other than Black Flag when we're trying to reference "integrity" "badassness" "punk" "tough" or whatever. It's the equivalent of one of those Misfits shirts for babies.

Pat Smear solo? Zoogz Rift? Katrina And The Waves? Whale? Kittie? World Of Twist? Lords Of Acid?
38
yes cAUSE cO-MOTION is up there with black flag in my book, too!

Hey, I love Black Flag too - especially the weird, later shit that actually falls into the category of "THE LAST TWENTY FIVE YEARS", not sure if you're talking about that stuff - but favorites are favorites, you know? I'm sure you guys would all tear me a new asshole if you knew who my favorite band actually was. And I, in turn, would respond with a sputtering, angry, vicious, self-important, defensive tirade, and the Termbo cycle would perpetuate itself and we'd all be happy.
39
you are on the wrong board, my friend. there is not room for someone LIKES everyone.

Ask Nick or Alex sometime, I have a long, diverse, paranoid Nixonesque enemies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRAPICwb36g) list. Seriously.

(Oh, and tell Mrs. Panama that her band was great last week and sorry for not saying hello.)

Music Shit / Re: Kim Fowley Thread
« on: September 14, 2009, 12:03:04 PM »
I really like that one song from "Sunset Boulevard" that starts with Kim saying "THIS IS REGGAE, MON!!!!"

Also, at that Little Steven's Underground Garage festival, I saw Kim Fowley go into a long, rambiling rant, which was cracking up Bruce Springsteen, who was standing on the side of the stage. It was cracking me up too, and I stood right up front, within The Boss's eyesight. We looked at each other, and I mouthed "WHAT'S HE DOING?!", which Springsteen responded to by mouthing "HE'S CRAZY!". Thank you Kim Fowley for my lone interaction with Mr. Tunnel Of Love.

Oh yeah, and Sarim gets my vote for most outrageous/hilarious Termbo poster.

My two cents:

1.) I like everyone involved with this madness. Mike is one of my best friends - we talk every day and hang out almost as much. He is my main man and gave me a good job when I was looking for anything. We've had our "silverback" moments, but at the end of the day my allegiances are with this man. I really like most of the records he's put out lately (not just because I have to), and I think some of this revisionist "Early Blank Dogs is the only good Blank Dogs" attitude is a bit weird, considering how tight and catchy the Devoish ITR single was, and how fuzzy, fucked up and weird the Roman Soldiers single was. Seems like something for everyone, and if it's not someone's cup of tea I can't see it worth getting upset over. I can't see getting pissed off at changes in direction in super-prolific dudes - obviously they're doing it for their own reasons, and don't seem to be too smug/proud of any of their accomplishments.

I really like Loy a lot. He was one of the only customers I enjoyed speaking to while spending a number of hellish years stuck behind the counter at Kim's. He can usually back up his occasionally-unpopular opinions (The Eurythmics?!) with actual critical thought and passion, which isn't something I can say for many people. He is one of the only people I've met who get how great Japan were. His radio show is great, and he spawned the most adorable child I have ever seen in my life. Seems like he was trying to stir up the board a bit with this post, which seems a little odd to me, but I guess people get bored at work, etc. You gotta get your kicks somehow.

I've only met Doug once or twice but he was pretty nice to me. He was one of the biggest champions of the greatest band of the past twenty-five years (caUSe co-MOTION!) which is pretty major in my book. I liked the bit at the end of of his review (?) about wanting to get a beer with Mike someday. We also both served time at the aforementioned Kim's, so there's some sort of understanding there about what that place can do to you. I've seen him DJ and it was good. We're Facebook friends.

However, this all seems like the Lou Reed/Lester Bangs "Let Us Now Praise Famous Death Dwarves", but without anybody being particularly passionate about anything.

2.) Mike may have spoke too soon about The Great Excape record - those guys haven't confirmed that record's release yet, but the second they do I will be getting to work on it. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I would like to announce Fantastic Records, an upcoming imprint of Captured Tracks, ran by me. First releases: Oh Wow, Michael Walter, Tough Knuckles, Tanks Amigo and hopefully The Great Excape.

3.) Please see 1:25-1:30 from this trailer from one of the most underrated movies of the 1990's:

Hello friends,

Please come to this show. The fantastic and impressive Box Elders are playing, along with my band, Oh Wow, who will be playing our first, testament-to-professionalism show. Also on the bill are Uzi Rash.

Thank you.

Getting down to more civilized discussion, what does everybody's copy of the tape look like? The Measles, myself and a bunch of other dudes/chicks hand colored/drew on them, and I figured people would be stoked about some of the insane/hilarious covers on those things. Anyone?

Cheap Trick: The Doctor LP

You're for real, right? I've never heard anybody defend that record, which rules.

If you're as into reevaluating later Cheap Trick as I am, can I get a witness to the quality of "Money Is The Root Of All Fun"?

I like The Doctor.  It isn't a great record but it has plenty of good moments.  You know that whenever anything is considered the Worst of its category -- Worst Movie of All Time, Worst Cheap Trick Record, whatever -- it's probably pretty interesting and weird.

What's the deal with "Money"?  Dunno that song.

Weird 80's outtake with Roy Wood on vocals. I think it's only on that box set from the 90's, which I don't have in my possession at the moment. Great melody, weird production and very un-Bun E. drumming.
