Music Shit / Re: ANOTHER TAPE TRADING CLUB!!!!
« on: June 02, 2009, 11:03:07 PM »
Shit, I'm guessing not. Okay, only three of us so far, so out of respect to the other two who got in touch with me I better make sure there's no one else out there in termbo land who's interested in this before I pull the pin. So, potential/future tape traders, get in touch if you want to get another mix tape trade club thing happening (similar to the other two tape trade/cassette swap clubs on here), or if anyone else wants to start another one and include us I don't care either - I realise I haven't posted too many times on here (I'm a long-time lurker though).

Well, maybe! I know, there's two, kind of three tape trade/cassette swap clubs on here already. I think everyone's pretty much jumped ship by now from the third one, which I'm also on, so I thought I'd sniff those tape trading winds and see if anyone's up for starting another. Vinnie said he had more than a dozen and had to knock people back, so I figured there's probably enough of us on here to get another one happening. Including myself there's already two of us, so I guess we'd need another 10 traders to make it an even dozen. Anyway, lemme know if you're keen - PM or email me: brendan.boucher@skills.tas.gov.au

oh man i wish that were an actual thing

... in a perfect world! By the way, if anyone still wants this I just got a copy in the mail from this place in Amsterdam: http://www.distortion.nl/. It aint cheap at 24 Euros, but it's no where near those ebay prices that some people are asking for.

Thanks again Jim. Wes and Manuel, I just emailed you both - lemme know if you don't get that one (I got your details off one of Lane's previous lists).

Anyone else looking here, if you're interested in starting up another tape club PM me or email me (brendan.boucher@skills.tas.gov.au) - if there's enough interest out there, maybe we can get another tape traders club happening.

Cool, thanks Jim.
Wes, you wanna just trade what you got left with Manuel and myself (and Jim's friend if they're keen), or do you wanna dupe some more and we'll get a new thread going? Actually, I think I already sent you my tape Wes, but I'm all for doing another one.
What about you Manuel, you happy to finish up with this one or are you interested in going another 12 rounds with a new list?

Alright Manuel, that's two of us then. Let's see who else on this one still wants to trade, and if there's only a few of us, like Vinnie said, maybe it's worth starting a new thread and picking up those leftovers/bench warmers that are keen or any new traders for that matter.

Honestly there were 3 euros I turned down and 3 people wanting to be on a reserve list. yourself included that 7. I'm sure you can find 5 more people. make a thread

No probs - thanks. Well, there's already two other tape clubs, not including this one, so does anyone else on here want to continue with this one? I'm happy to start a new thread, but as Lane already put the work in I don't want to tread on anyone's toes either. What do you reckon Lane?

Damn, there's a new one on the go that I missed out on. That's what I get for posting Friday and not getting near a computer until Monday. Vinnie, can I put my hand up for that reserve list too?

So, does anyone left on this one still wanna trade?

Hey Lane, is this still happening and has there been any April/May emails?

The Manhattan Academy Records (13th St location)  had this as recently as last week.  Probably still there.  I dunno where you live, but they sell on eBay so maybe they're willing to ship it.

Thanks for that. I live on the other side of the world in OZ, Tasmania in fact - ebay it might have to be then.

I don't really have a trade list but off the top of my head I do have a spare of the OOGA BOOGAS 'The Octopus Is Back' 7" if anyone's holding out on their Breeders 12" and they wanna trade - I'd still include some dollars to sweeten the deal and cover the 7" to 12" ratio.

I know I probably run the risk of being ridiculed on here for this one (I also know there's some proud/closet Breeders fans on here too though), but anyone know where I can still get a copy of this or anyone have one they wanna sell me?

And don't bother trying to re-scale the rough guide map in your mind to work out which street Godzilla's on - he aint worth it!

Thanks for the Disc Union tip. As far as Godzilla's concerned, I'm sure my wife can spot any street the mighty beast had walked.

No worries. If you're wife's a Godzilla fan, well maybe she will want to pay homage to his statue then - he's in Ginza and he's about 6ft tall. Cool city and damn friendly people - enjoy.

In case it's of any use to you, the Disk Union store in Shibuya had mostly blues/jazz and the one in Shinjuku (for memory it was on the 4th floor of a building almost opposite the station) was predominately punk, but not really much vinyl, so unless they're your thing you might wanna chase up those other leads - damn, I wish I had posted this thread before I travelled there last year.

Been listening to some of the Sub Pop cassette zines from the early 80s lately.
I've got no. 5 - long, long time no hear, but for memory a few stand outs. Are the others worth tracking down? They go for a hefty price and part of me still wants em, even for the Charles Burns covers.

I have 5 and 7 and both have some memorable stuff on em. Neo Boys, Mydolls, Zyklon, Angst...

Thanks - okay, I'll dig my no. 5 out tonight.

Fair enough re: the 'Analogs Russland' comp - in hindsight not a strong contender to other min wave comps out there like the Born Bad series, but not bad either.

I second the 'Bombardiranje New Yorka' comp - best Satan Panonski songs I've heard.

Also:
HEX
Analoges Russland
Des Jeunes Gens Modernes and BIPPP (still need IVG)
Emergency Room

...and a few OZ comps:
Go and Do It - The Aberrant Compilations
12 Heads No Brains
Boogie Wonderland
Swinging from the Rafters
