I'm not going. I have a feeling it's all a Jonestown-esque death trap.

haha i was thinking of some scenario like this myself -- CC does such a good job at self-marketing, it is really pretty funny --- i think FNU and homostupids are doing another show, earlier the same day as the last clockcleaner show at a north philly warehouse -- i assume it will be over by the time the other show starts

i didn't submit my application for the CC show so ill probably go to the black pus, videohippos, snowstorm show at copy gallery that night (not sure what this board feels about those bands)

Pop Punk / Re: Wavves Wavves Wavves oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!

I hear you on that. It was a friend of mine who had played with Fantastic Magic in CA who was struck when it was discovered that the same dude was Wavves, and had commented to me about what it is like to be young and like change your image or something when you go to a new school. But yes, the whole tropical hippie whatever of SoCal isn't too far off from the whole lo-fi punk thing. I'm not hating on Wavves myself, but it is interesting to see the change.

With all this talk about Wavves here -- how people think wavves sucks, or that the wavves guy is obnoxious for being a little brat who just plays nintendo and smokes weed all day etc --- I haven't seen anyone mention this point yet (I have looked through most of these Wavves posts but couldn't read all the posts/threads - theres too much there).

Has anyone listened to his band Fantastic Magic who were active until sometime in 2008?

Wavves guy sung and wrote the songs for this band, which is wayy different than wavves. It's like hippie music or something. He even had long hair! My friend met him on tour and told me about how his manner of speaking changed from a noticeably hippie drawl to a skater drawl this year/late last year, when he cut his hair and started his one man band, with skate/surf punk aesthetic. I guess it is part of the deal when you are just 22 years old where you can completely change who you are and everything you are into --- but still older people can smell that shit a mile away... especially when that person changes himself and starts doing stuff you have been doing.

Anyway this kid's whole music/persona make-over from hippie--->skate-punk may help put this whole Wavves thing in perspective.

I like the Life of Thorns stuff based on the youtube videos. What was pretty annoying was that for the between song banter Blake started talking about poetry as poesis in the work of Martin Heidegger. I think someone told him to shut up and go back to college.

I grew up liking Crimpshrine as a teenager, they were like one of my favorite bands. Now however, while I think the music is good, alot of the lyrics, and all of Jeff Ott's lyrics are cringeworthy embarassing and idiotic. I even like some of the Fifteen stuff before I finally grew up. The last straw was when I bought the album Lucky. Like everyone said, that it the most annoying piece of garbage ever. I think that guy Lucky thought that Jeff was a piece of shit, that's why he quit his band. Jeff Ott is such a piece of shit. He's even a rapist, and he actually goes on tour and plays some video where he talks about abuse and how he was a rapist. I never saw it live or anything but I found a review of his show one time when I was looking on the internet (no lie) for people who wrote about how much Jeff Ott sucks.

What about this video? Jeff Ott doing his own version of Kiss the Bottle, but instead making it be about Blake Schwarzenbach, Billie Joe, and Aaron Cometbus --- in the song he talks about the girl who was "the subject of the song Pretty Mess" ---- you guys were right, this is next level suckage
