We're selling out of the Derek Lyn Plastic "Life And Death" 7" much faster than we anticipated so today we re-ordered 100 more. There was only supposed to be 300 copies, but with Derek recently releasing four cd's, two 7"s and at least two more 7"'s coming out really soon, we wanted to keep it in stock for his legions of fans.
WORLD GET READY - DEREK LYN PLASTIC IS COMING FOR YOU!!!!
We still have a few of the regular 1st pressing copies left, so we'll continue to sell them until they're gone.
We should have the repress in about two weeks.
We're working on getting more covers screen-printed (with red ink this time).
+++++
The Brimstone Howl/Hell Shovel split 7" (CPR014) test pressings should be here next week.
Assuming they sound good, we'll start taking pre-orders soon.
+++++
Today we got the new tracks for the upcoming Ramma Lamma "Tiger" 7" EP on Certified PR Records (CPR015).
This record is BY FAR our favorite Ryan/Wendy record EVER!

« on: October 26, 2010, 04:57:44 PM »
I usually don't buy records "off the wall"...
I don't even attempt to buy collectable "classics" anymore because of all the recent reissues.
I've spent literally $1,000's and years of my life tracking down original records like Buzzcocks "Singles Going Steady" for $15-$20 or paying way too much for Flipper LP's...
Now most stuff has been reissued for, in many cases, less than I paid for the (pre-ebay) hard to track down originals.

I can't really remember my first.
I remember when Daddy Kool Records moved to St. Pete (about 6 (?) years ago), I bought New York Dolls 2 x LP (The first 2 lp's packaged together) "off the wall" ... 70's issue, with the white faces on a black backround - pink neon lettering)...
EX+/EX+ condition - $13

I'm pretty sure the last two were from the shitty record store down the block from my house about 4-5 years ago:
1. Ramones "S/T" LP. EX+/NM- copy, original 1st pressing with inner paper sleeve - $20
2. Dead Boys "Young, Loud And Snotty" LP. EX+/NM PROMO copy (with big pink promo sticker) - $20

I still remember that day and I'm still wondering if it was worth spending $40 on two records I heard a billion times, even though they might be "worth" it...

12"'s in personal collection - about 2,000
12"'s in Certified PR website inventory stock - about 400
12"'s - left over rap records that I used to peddle on ebay - over 2,000
12"'s autographed and hanging on our walls - about 50
12"'s autographed (sitting on a shelf) - about 50
12"'s sold to Bananas (world largest vinyl "museum") about 3 months ago - 7,000
10"'s in personal collection - about 50
7"'s with picture sleeve in personal collection - 1,879
7"'s without picture sleeve in personal collection - over 2,000
7"'s autographed and hanging on our walls - over 100
7"'s autographed (sitting on a shelf) - over 100
7"'s in Certified PR website inventory stock - 1,957
7"'s not in personal collection or CPR inventory (basically doubles of really good stuff in our personal collection - but not enough copies to list on the website) - about 2,000
7"'s Kimmie bought at as auction lot ("junk" 45's for use as decorations) about 2,000
7"'s - unsold Certified PR Records releases - about 300

So that's about 4,500 12"'s and about 10,000 7"'s
plus well over 500 cassettes (probably closer to 700-800), about 1,000 cd's, over 50 8-tracks and about 2 dozen plexi discs.

Almost forgot about the mountain of cd-r demo's sent to Certified PR Records for release consideration...

Music Shit / R.I.P. Stiff (Stiff Pole Records)
« on: July 19, 2010, 05:31:41 AM »
Holy shit.... I can't believe it.
It saddens me to inform you guys that fellow St. Petersburg punk, Stiff (Stiffpole Records) has passed away this morning.
Apparently he was ill with a stomach virus this past week and his partner Dreb found him unresponsive this morning.

I last saw him about a month ago when I was DJ'n a Doll Parts show at The Emerald Bar in St. Pete.
He asked me if I would play some Black Flag for him, which I did.
He told me how excited he was for the Doll Parts (all-girl local punk band) debut LP to be coming out real soon.

He seemed really excited that he recently restarted his label, which was idle for about 10 years.
I started seeing him out at shows more often and it seemed like he and Dreb had some pretty cool things lined up...

He was totally dedicated to promoting the Tampa Bay/Florida punk scene.

Old"er" school punks will remember some pretty awesome records on Stiffpole Records by artists like Pink Lincolns, Gotohells, Morning Shakes and many many more..

Hello again vinyl record consumer,
Certified PR is proud to announce that we have another NEW 7" vinyl record available for purchase!

CPR012: Alicja-Pop! "Shining Apple" b/w "Walking The Cow" 7" is on the way!

The re-cut test pressings came in the mail last week and they sounded much better...
The covers are done and now we're just waiting for the records to show up.
PRE-ORDERS WILL START TODAY!
http://www.certifiedprrecords.com/Mailorder_7__Records.html

Everyone should already know about Ms. Alicja Trout.
She is highly regarded as one of the best songwriter/performers out there!
Her previous output includes the legendary Lost Sounds, River City Tanlines, Mouserocket and many others.
The Memphis, TN based Alicja is one of the most prolific artists of the past 10 years putting out a great record seemingly every other month.
For her Certified PR Records debut, she changes things up a little.
Originally intended to be children's record, this release features the amazing original, "Shining Apple" and her stunning interpretation of the Daniel Johnston classic, "Walking The Cow".

The first 100 orders will receive a LIMITED EDITION CERTIFIED PR MAILORDER ORDER REVERSED COLOR COVER (WHITE INK ON BLACK PAPER).
All 500 records will come in a nice screened printed cover, but the first 100 will be unique for the collector nerds!

We anticipate an April 25th release date.
For trades and wholesale rates email us at thickbootyhos@yahoo.com

The People's Temple 7" is selling pretty quickly... We're getting a bunch of "mid-sized" orders, so they're moving fast - but there are still about 5-7 LIMITED EDITION MAGNET versions left for whoever wants them - HURRY!

There's a bunch of new titles over on the mailorder and we got a bunch more coming, including the latest Goodbye Boozy Records, the brand new Douchemaster releases (King Louie & His Missing Monuments and more) the new Viva L' American Death Ray Music 7" and some Burger Records tapes (Black Lips and more).

We're gonna start working on CPR013: Derek Lyn Plastic "Ajax Drips" project any day now and then the Brimstone Howl/Hell Shovel split 7" after that... busy, busy, busy!

AND LAST, BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST:

Our first child, baby Charles Alan "Charlie", has joined the Certified PR family! He was born at the Bayfront Baby Place in Saint Petersburg, Florida on March 30, 2010 (3:37AM). 8 lbs. 11 oz. - 21 inches!
Charlie is perfect, with no problems. Mom is doing OK - still very sore and tired, but recovering as well as can be expected! Thanks to everyone for all your kind words during this most precious time in our lives.

Until next time.....

It's been an exhausting week or so here at Certified PR headquarters!
I fucked up and ordered the wrong size plastic sleeves for The People's Temple 7".
Somehow I ordered 7 1/4" x 7 1/4" resealable bags, instead of the 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" sleeves... and the covers were printed 7 1/4" x 7 1/4"... hmm ... My dumbass had to hand trim 1/8" off of 500 covers plus I hand-numbered 500 pieces of wax and stuffed them all into resealable plastic... Quite a task for a one person!
Thank god Kimmie helped me address the boxes for all the pre-orders.
All said and done, anyone who pre-ordered a copy - Your copy went out this week!

Also...
A lot of people have been emailing me with questions about the Alicja-Pop! 7".
Last week Friday we received test pressings but United screwed up and I had to reject them.
The plates were recut this week and I expect the new test pressings this upcoming week!
If they sound good we'll start a pre-order (covers are being printed NOW)...

After that we got the Derek Lyn Plastic project and the Brimstone Howl/Hell Shovel split 7"... should be a busy couple of months!

In the meantime do us both a favor and check out our mailorder @ http://www.certifiedprrecords.com/
We got all sorts of cool records that you might have snoozed on as well as some bitchin' new shit....

LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST...
As much as Kimmie and I wish we could be in Austin right now, we are soooo proud to be expecting parents!!!
Kimmie is 38+ weeks along with our first child, lil' baby boy Charlie, who we expect will be with us any day now! We can't hardly wait! We've been secretly hoping that he can wait to join us for another week and a half so SXSW doesn't ever land on his birthday...

Hello again vinyl record consumers!

We are proud to announce our latest release, is the long awaited "You Don't Know" 7" EP by The People's Temple.
It's a three song sonic blast you're not gonna wanna miss!
Their well received debut 7" on Milk-N-Herpes was a good example of how they sounded a few years ago when they were first starting out...
This EP, contains "new" songs that were recorded last year.
You can check out the first track on the record (and their myspace page) HERE

Their Wikipedia entry has this to say about them:
The People's Temple are a psychedelic garage band that formed in Perry, Michigan and currently is based out of Lansing, Michigan. The band was named one of the essential Lansing bands of the decade in the Lansing Pulse.
The People's Temple was formed in 2007 by two sets of brothers Alex Szegedy (guitar/vocals) and George Szegedy (drums) along with Spencer Young (bass/vocals) and William Young (guitar/vocals).
While growing up in Perry, Michigan the band members became influenced by '60s rock, folk and garage rock, which shows in the band's vintage sound.
The band started playing gigs in the Lansing area in 2008 and have since developed a reputation of performing wild stage shows, with ample guitar feedback. The band has 7-inch singles on Certified PR and Milk-n-Herpes Records. (A HoZac Records single is scheduled for release in 2010 also!)

The band wants you to know that this record is a Turn It Down! Production!

We have a bunch of exciting things happening!

CPR009 - The People Temple "You Don't Know" 7" has already been sent in and we're expecting the test pressings (probably?) next week.
There's gonna be 500 copies.
Assuming there's no major problems, this one will be out in early March.

CPR012 - Alicja-Pop (Alicja Trout) "Shining Apple" b/w "Walking The Cow" 7" is going out tomorrow. I suppose we'll get the test pressings in about 2-3 weeks. This one should be out right around the time our baby boy Charlie is born!
There will 500 copies of this one also.

Also, keep an eye out for the Sailor Jerry Rum compilation featuring a shitload of great bands, including John Wesley Coleman III, doing "Donkey Song" from his "Steal My Mind" LP (CPR010).

After all this we will be working on another split label release with FDH Records: CPR013 - Derek Lyn Plastic "Ajax Drips" 7" EP.

Head over to the Certified PR website (http://www.certifiedprrecords.com/Home_Page.html) and check out the new updated mailorder section. I've been going through boxes and boxes and more boxes of old inventory and I've been adding a few titles every day. After collecting for years and never having a "real" website we've accumulated hundreds (maybe thousands) of now out of print and hard to find titles. Keep checking back... I'm always adding more records!
Some titles we only have a few copies of, but don't worry, I figured out how to set the shopping cart so it won't/can't charge you for something we don't have.
Fast, safe, cheap shipping...

Buy some stuff so we can keep putting out records!
