Never said I was doing a good job, but at least it's getting done.

Classic loser mentality. California strikes again.

Eat a dick.

Do people actually listen and like the Shaggs honestly?

I do!  There are a few duds on there but overall its just too damn cute to resist.

The Shaggs - The Shaggs

Aw fuck. That's that Ryko comp isn't it? That has The Shaggs doing The Carpenters "Yesterday Once More" on it. Fucking amazing.

Love their version of that song too.  Best track!

Perfect!

Nice.  I have "Sprigs of Time" and its awesome.  Anyone know if there are any US distro's that carry a good amount of Honest Jon's material?

Russian Tsarlag - Community Death Tube: "Stronghold" (where is this from?) and the tracks that follow are awesome.  I love arty movie / spoken word inserts like this.  So sick.

Harlem - Free Drugs: I.....think your beautiful....and......ve ry smart!

Group Doueh - Treeg Salaam: last track (~20 min) is bliss

Music Shit / Re: Best Record Store In Town

Gonna be touring the west coast soon. Anyone care to give me a list of the best record stores for 60's psych and garage or dub from anywhere between (and including) Phoenix and Seattle?

Are you going to Tijuana?

i wish. pheonix, san diego, l.a., san francisco/oakland, sacremento, reno, and portland should be it.

In SD, only "Thirsty Moon" fits the bill.  Its tiny but I always find something nice.
I would also suggest stopping by "Folk Arts Rare Records." (mostly folk, blues, and jazz).

When/where are you playing in SoCal?

theres a great new record store place in LA that has great deals and great records. the place is in echo park forgot the exact name of it and its run by a really knowledgeable dude from new york. its half records store/ half bbq joint and last time i walked in there they were jamming the Death LP.  a bunch of rare stuff really cheap to moderate (i got a still sealed first press of patti smith's horses for $10, a GBV/Flying Saucer Attack split 7" for $8, flamin groovies' shake some action $20, rem's chronic town for $8, etc.). they also have a bunch of rare 60s french 45s all w/ pic sleeves (dutronc, frances gall, polnareff, etc.) for about $10-20 a pop. pretty cool spot.

Music Shit / Re: Best Records of the First Half of 2009

just read this whole thread and saw no mention of wet hair or sun araw. two of my favorite records of the year.

The 2009 Sun Araw releases were weak in comparison to the Boat Trip / Beach Head songs which are certainly among the best of 2008.  I listen to "Beach Head" almost daily.

Just based off what I listen to the most, THE BEETS win.  Also, so much praise for the new Oh Sees stuff....Nothing compares to the sound of this band during "Cool Deaths.." to "Sucks Blood" so no new vote for dwyer.

wow the worst band outta the denton kids multi bands. I miss your mustache Paul but not this turd or do you even grace this nugget anyway?

I Disagree.  This is much better than the Wax Museums material.  A+ record.  Too expensive.
