West coast is too much like the USA anyway.

The real Canada is on the east...and I don't fucking mean Toronto or Montreal.

I dunno, man, New Brunswick is pretty much the worst province in this country and Nova Scotia didn't allow Sunday shopping until like a year ago?  Halifax is a nice place to visit, but you couldn't pay me enough money to live there.

I'll give you that on N.B - it's too french-oriented.

I lived in N.S during no shopping sundays, and i'm moving back there in a few months. I actually thought it was awesome that they banned Sunday shopping.

Yeah.

Newfoundland is a half-hour ahead of everyone in North America. I remember in 2000, when everyone was freaking out about Y2K, NBC had a camera in Newfoundland to see if anything would fall out of the sky and/or if computers would crash.

Trailer Camp/Black Bags split 7"!!

You know you're a Newfie when you live in a house that has no front step, yet the door is one meter above the ground.

ZING!!

is it disgraceful that i don't own that 7"!!??

.... what surprises me is that many of these girls look better with their clothes on!

truth.

as a rule i cannot see how filthy they are/are not if they don't look at least decent with their clothes on. as such i will never know just how filthy most of these girls actually are.

This is exciting. The Circuit des Yeux track on the XXperiments compilation was one of the best tracks on that comp. I'm in!

I managed to get a copy of this tape before it sold out...it's probably one of my most listened to tapes this year.

I'm going to give a run-down of HFX right now because I grew up there and know what is going on still. It mostly fucking is a shitty place where you have to drive 18 hours to get away from. But notable acts and things going on fr there right now:::

DIVORCE RECORDS - http://www.myspace.com/divorcerecords

Darcy has been in a ton of awesome bands and put most of the awesome bands that are around in HFX. His label and Distro are great.

OMON RA http://www.myspace.com/theyproject

Pretty rad psych jams. We played a show with them in Montreal last night that was pretty impressive. They are currently going on a US tour so check them out. Zach is moving to MTL when they get back and we are going to have endless jams.

THE ETHER http://www.myspace.com/etherthruvishuddha

Noisy rock jammers. I just put out a C-46 on my label for these guys. It is really fucking good. I have no idea who they are or what they are like as a live band, as it is one or two guys 4 track project, but the EP they did for me is really well done and cohesive. I was impressed.

THE FRIENDLY DIMENSION http://www.myspace.com/thefriendlydimension

This is Troy Richter (GILBERT SWITZER R.I.P.) and Zach fr Omon Ra's project. Psych folk, I am putting out a C-20 in the next few weeks that is really fun. Just waiting on the artwork fr Nicholas MacMillan

TORSO http://www.myspace.com/torsodeath

Harsh Noise. One of the only people doing stuff like this out east. Better than 75% of the acts that play at No Fun Fest. Composition and performance are of a higher caliber than most. Me and this guy used to wear bed sheets over our bodies and run into random indie rocker house parties throwing fire crackers and shit.

PIG http://www.myspace.com/pigtruro

I don't know who these guys are but I think they are a highschool band from Truro (2 hours away from Halifax, somehow incredible bands always come from there) and they are really fucking cool.

GENETIC ANGRY http://www.myspace.com/geneticangry

Straight up Black Flag "slip it in" era hardcore. Also from Truro. When they started they were all 15 years old, opening for my D-beat crust band at the time. Drummer didn't know how to use a kick pedal. Fast forward a couple years when I am back home and they have a 7" that totally rips and are apparently a really tight live act although I have not seen them play since 2005?

I was gonna make a post on Divorce, so thanks! Omon Ra and The Ether are two of my fav Canadian acts right now.  The Omon Ra/Chris D'eon tape is excellent, and I've more or less enjoyed all the Omon Ra releases so far.

Did you go to OBEY?

Album of the Year:  El Jesus de Magico 'Scalping the Guru'

is this going to be re-pressed?

Anyone get the Devon Williams tape? What's it like?

Just got mine... in Canada.

No east coast Canada love yet. Still waiting!

This was probably one of the best packaged 7"s I ever got, sounds and looks fucking great. and there was so many layers of paper i was unsure if there was even a record in it at one point. A+++

Agreed. I was lucky enough to get one of those limited edition versions. One of my favorite 7"s so far this year. Lookin' forward to that 'Janie' 7"

Mine made it to me in New Zealand yesterday. Haven't even listened to them yet, but both are a real piece of eye candy. Yum.

Wow, mine haven't made it to Canada yet. Hopefully tomorrow or early next week.
