still no sign of mine...

i gave up waiting a long time ago... but the news that people are starting to receive the 7 inch is kind of 'promising' if such a word can be used at all in this thread.

It'll certainly sell out, though. I'd say before the week is out.

Wasn't aware of the upcoming cassette.  Cool!  But yeah, at this particular point, I'm thinking that "Golden Oldies" is the lone record they've made thus far that is front-to-back very good.

FYI they are now doing direct mailorder again. Golden Oldies LP, CLOWNING ON BITCHES Anthems 12" EP, Live At Pompeii CDR are all available through them.

$5 including worldwide postage is a pretty excellent deal. I may not get a better offer all day.

Psychedelic Horseshit - Golden Oldies LP
More impressed with this stuff than anything else I've heard by them.

I sort of agree. I am looking forward to the Jerkwave cassette out soon.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Manny suspended

I think getting 50 games speaks volumes. Bonds, A-Rod, Clemens never got suspended...but Manny gets 50?

I still think the Dodgers continue the winning streak at least into Sunday.

A-rod returns tomorrow, I believe.

On the video game front, I haven't played video games since super nintendo/nintendo 64 days. But I recently received a Xbox 360 as a birthday gift and I can't stop feeling guilty about it. Every time I turn it on I think how many records I could have bought instead.

It's not even THAT much fun.

I mean, fun, but i've had more fun for less $$.

Mighty fine.

OVERSIZED JERKWAVE BUTTON!!!

What member-only clubs are made of.

It cost about $12 - $15 to mail a single LP overseas, depending in the packing.

I mistook him as meaning "Get it now or it will cost you $25 later" for some reason. It seems clear now that he meant international.

$15 to Canada? Some people consider Canada as 'International' while others do not. I consider International to be non North America.

Music Shit / Re: The Fall

i've been reading a book called Rip It up and Start Again: Postpunk 1978-1984. Pretty great read, especially the chapter on Joy division/The Fall.

This makes me extremely curious. What went down between them?

Smith rode his moped past an industrial estate called Trafford Park en route to his job in Manchester's docks. Legend has it he often passed a young man, dressed in a similar-looking donkey jacket, on his way to work. It was Ian Curtis. It goes on to talk about how both Joy Division and The Fall had a lot in common. Similar backgrounds, similar education, similar jobs, liked the same bands. They also rehearsed in the same building and played some shows together, yet neither band ever acknowledged each others existence.

my mom's favorite now and forever has and always will be the carpenters.  genetically gave me a soft spot for "superstar".

the Sonic Youth cover of that is actually pretty good.

only thing remotely cool my mom is/was into was Blondie. these days it's Celine Dion.

I love the imaginary genre Smith coined called "country 'n' northern" to help distance the fall from experimental bands such as the pop group, etc.
