Non-Music Shit / Re: discogs for books?
« on: June 22, 2017, 12:08:44 AM »
Discogs launched Bibliogs recently: https://www.biblio.gs/ - not sure how extensive the database is yet though. There's also a separate one for comics.

It's broader than that even - https://thevinylfactory.com/news/discogs-new-databases-gearogs-bibliogs-comicogs-filmogs/

I'm holding out for Clothesogs (Togogs?) and Carpetogs

This was a bit under the radar - for me at least

I was ranting about the need for this reissue when I 1st joined this bawd......
Very choice. Pretty much all Italian sellers - not bought from Italy before but I'm wary of stories I've heard about disappearing packages sent from Italy. Is this still the case?

Either way - extremely stoked to see a long time want reissued.

Viral Age Records distro is selling it from the UK for ?20 (plus postage). It's fucking great, by the way.

Damn....sold out already! Any other UK distros likely to have this?

That's great - going to order today. Thanks for the heads up. I'm too ignorant about current UK distros....
Just gotta hope someone does the vinyl treatment for this too now

You admitted to losing a duffel bag full of the NOFX set!  Do you think the punk community would sanction you getting your butter fingers on another? craneoffortune and his gathering of the punk elders would never have it.
FORGIVENESS is one of the 3 cornerstone tenets of the coloured straight edge community.

Unless user MAD has edited that out of the wikipedia page too.

This thread is excruciating to read. It's also mildly amusing. I trust user MAD has cottoned on.

On another note however I have all the FORGIVENESS 7"s in all variants (including the mirror-sleeve Zimbabwean pressing) - best band and definitely not pop-punk whatever some loser might say

Is this being distroed in the UK/Europe?

I think so, as Monorail in Glasgow has some.

Damn, gone already.

Now, did I ever tell you about the chunk of mint Nancy Sesay (or was it Sara Goes Pop?) 7"s that were also still available at a very reasonable price 10 (or so) years ago......no, I'm saying nothing.....

Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Re: WTB: Homosexuals LP
« on: June 12, 2017, 02:01:35 PM »
It is a small consolation that this never happened.  The LP was in high demand by the early '00s, and then Recommended reissued it as a CD in 2003 (still available for 5 pounds).  Commies but not rubes, RecRec didn't have a fire sale on still-sealed copies.

The LP shows up on the reg in the $50 - $100 range, which isn't bad considering what a Liza and Louise 7" cover variant will set you back these days.

I've no doubt taken some poetic Alzheimer licence with the exact date, price (and of course number of available copies as I can only guess at that) but no - unlikely tho this sounds it is in fact true. Now you've put me on the spot I'd stretch the date a bit further back to maybe 12 years max - 2005 earliest. The LP was not in any fire sale for sure but the vinyl section of the ReR website had copies for sale at their standard new LP price for Recommended label titles along with other original unsold stock. I already had a minty second hand copy so didn't bother 1st time I saw it - had no idea it had a potential collector flip value. A year later when I became aware, I went back to have another look but they'd all gone. There may have been a handful - there may have been 50+!

If others have the same difficulties dealing with Mr Wizzard that Chuck Warner had it'll never come out again. Which is a shame. Perhaps more of a shame (or equal....) is the wealth of material that was lined up for Magical Clamour the proposed follow up to Astral Glamour. That's something I'd really like to hear.

It'll be of no comfort to hear that less than 10 years ago Recommended/ReR Megacorp had piles of the Homos LP for sale cheap on their website at around ?8 a pop. Someone must have discovered them and cleaned them out.

Non-Music Shit / Re: CYCLING SHIT

Summer's tentatively 'here' in the UK. Been starting to use the bike rack on the car to drive out of the city for rides. After X years riding all routes out of the metropolis become overfamiliar. Somerset levels and Cotswolds are 1st port of call. Head Of The Valleys in South Wales the next step.

The whole man-machine thing that Kraftwerk sang about is a glorious state of merging that can happen after an hour in the saddle. After West Country cider that's my current drug of choice.

Can't won't cycle with headphones. Air rush and ambient sounds are essential part of the mix

Nature Boys - 3
This band is so consistently good and underappreciated. Brings to mind stuff like Dead Moon, Wipers and Rudimentary Peni, but they got a real unique voice, even if there is nothing genre-bending about avant-garde about them. Pretty much all one could hope for out of a punk or rock band in 2017. Soulful, authentic punk with tension, grit and swing.

Thanks for this Kevin - listening to it on their bandcamp and it's great. Wipers and Peni refs - yeah; apposite. Also getting hints of DKs and Saccharine Trust and less formulaic early SoCal groove. This needs a lots more listens. Great guitar playing.
